Any Pilots On Here??

I just found the update to this thread. Congrats Red on your success and your new plane. That’s a nice ride. Get that instrument time as quick as you can. One thing I learned owning a V35 for 15 years is that there is always bad weather out there and these fast rides will get to that weather quickly. I did feel like it was easier to deal with the weather in a fast plane as the weather did not typically change as much during the shorter time period it took to complete any given route. I am just knocking around in a Cessna 120 these days so I steer clear of the weather!!

"so I steer clear of the weather"
Now THERE ..... is the BEST advice for ALL light aircraft!

Punched my IFR ticket on June 21st! Game changer for sure!

Over 300 hours now! Been flying around everywhere. Such a wonderful thing I've done here!

Congrats, that’s a big accomplishment. I’m not current but the instrument flying I did was by far the most rewarding flying for me. It’s really something to slip down the ILS and break out a few hundred feet AGL on a nasty day. I also really liked the fact that they treat every plane in the system exactly the same, regardless of whether they are a 737 or a 172. Always made me want to be as professional as the big boys.

Reminded me of this story....

Welcome top the wonderful world of aviation. Been doing it for over 50 years and get a smile every time I get airborne. Flown under 36 mph in a cub and 2.6 mach in an F4, doesn't matter its al flying. Currently have an F33 Beech and this old guy is learning a glass cockpit so different from the needle, ball and airspeed I learned on. At 77 with aching joints I have had to give up many activities but I cling to flying. My neighbors help me push the bird back in my backyard hanger. John Glenn gave up flying his Beech Baron at 92 so I have a goal. Instrument current but I'm basically a VFR flier now, been there done that with low ceiling and stormy weather approaches now its just a smile maker that keeps me young. Whatever you fly you are part of a great fraternity started by some brothers named Wright.

Congratulations on your instrument rating.

Your insurance company will be really happy too.

I am not so sure.
I can't imagine an insurance company being very happy about a freshly minted instrument pilot.
A bit better than non instrument rated,.....but with minimal instrument experience, and very likely overconfident.

Me thinks you don’t know much about airplane insurance. An instrument rating is viewed very favorably by underwriting regardless of instrument hours flown. The completion of the rating shows a high level of skill and proficiency.
