Well hopefully I didn't bite off more than I can chew, but I am looking forward to the project. I will be picking up a 2017 V519 next week that I bought at an online auction for less than $5k :D It has however gotten just a bit toasty in the engine compartment, but with other models of the same year going in the high 50s I have quite bit of room to play with I hope. If worse comes to worse I have a set of axles to build a new toy with, and some parts to put on EBAY. I went to my local Bobcat dealer and set up an account on Friday, and ordered a parts, and repair manual to get started. I also went ahead and ordered two tires to make it a roller for what I thought was a dang good deal off walmart.com for $723 bucks shipped. That was just a bit higher than what I found for them each at other places. Now if wallyworld.com only sold Bobcat parts

I recently bought a Kubota L6060 (LOVE IT), and have had a Bobcat T140 skid steer for maybe 5 years. I was planning on upgrading to a much larger skid steer but after looking at some of the post on here of the V519s and earlier models and what they are capable of I think this may be the ticket, and possibly be quite a bit cheaper than buying new, or even used. I am pretty dang crafty, and might end up just stuffing one of my 4BTs in there LOL Anyway, figured I will start posting pics and at least keep everybody entertained. Let me know if you think I am crazy or scored a good project. Thanks Aaron/HD FAB

*** EDIT*** If anyone knows what model of motor will be in this let me know, I would like to start looking to see if I can find a complete pull out somewhere. Or if anyone has seen one of these being parted out. I saw one other one that looked to have caught on fire, but so far haven't found for parts. Thanks!

Left side looks good.

Good luck. Heck, even if you put $20K in it you're ahead of the game.

Any damage in the cab?

I’d be inclined to go with the mechanical injection 4bt option. It would cost a fortune to fix back with the factory motor. How many hydraulic pumps is it supposed to have? I doubt the motor is hurt but it’s missing a lot of accessories.

It looks to be mostly cosmetic inside the cab. The headliner has came down, but even the stickers on the window are only browned at the top and the glass is still intact. It will be interesting to find out what all was affected.

To be honest I was joking in the beginning, but the more I think about it it really could be an option... I have several 4BTs both VE and P pumped (one is twin turbo and made 525hp/938tq on the dyno lol) and I think I still have a SAE 3 and 4 bell housing. I would basically just have to gut all the wiring and plumb and wire it like I was building a one off machine. I don't plan on flipping this, so I def wouldn't hurt to build it the way I want. **** I already thought about gutting my T140 for parts but its about 25hp shy. I will know more once I get it back and start making a parts list. Bobcat did have the motor on the computer at like 14k, but then you have everything that goes along with it. Eh, well see...

Well I hope that you scored a good project. But it might be a major project.

It won't be a "roller" until you follow the procedure in the service manual to release the brakes.

The engine is a Doosan, but I don't know the model number.

Click this link, then click "Model Number": Bobcat Genuine Parts Catalog – Official Bobcat Company site

This comes up:

Thanks Xfaxman, I don't have the manual yet so I had better get by Bobcat tomorrow and see about finding out how to release the brakes. I am trying to get a second winch mounted on the trailer, snatch blocks, tools, tires, etc ready for about a 6hr drive to go get it and you may have just saved me a bunch of heartache.

After searching online I found the repair manual for download for a grand total of 19 bucks! It will still be nice to have the paperback that I ordered from Bobcat but this will get me started. I printed off the procedure to be able to tow it and is simple enough.

Sorry for not posting again sooner, I have been swamped trying to put up a new 40x80 paint booth before we get busy again, and I have also been waiting on parts for the project. It was interesting to find out how many parts are on back order for my V519 from Bobcat, and so it gave me time to start looking elsewhere. Bobcat wanted just under $15k for a long block, then I needed all the censors, harness, computer, drive accessories, etc etc etc and I was looking at 20k and that didn't include all the pump parts, hoses, etc. Well I never leave anything stock, so what the heck lets go for it.... I ordered a crate Cummins R2.8 that comes with everything for less than 8K shipped to my door. That right there saves me about 12k just on the motor and its double the HP that the Doosan motor was, but about the same TQ. I found a place online that to be honest I was worried that I was getting scammed, but my first round of parts showed up on Friday and they were all genuine Bobcat parts. The first round was fuel tank, headliner, main body harness, computer, and the pump drive flange. I saved about $1600 ordering them and not getting bent over at the dealership and this was just a small test order. I basically have everything tore down and being cleaned, powder coated, or painted. I had the wheels blasted and powder coated and even thought they had been burnt in the fire, they are so thick that it didn't effect them. I saved about $700 bucks by buying the two tires I needed off walmart.com, and will just run a different pattern front and rear. I thought about having them foam filled, but decided to hold off for now untill after I get it running. I will be ordering another round of parts next week, and so if all goes well sometime in February I will jump back on this project and try and knock it out ASAP as I am ready to start using it, and my little T140 skid steer needs maintenance. I will post up pictures when I start to design and machine the adapter to bolt to the little Cummins. Wish me luck LOL

Thanks for the update this year :D

Man, that is a major project. Good luck for sure.

The first three pictures in your last post didn't upload, please try again. Got them uploaded with your edit.

Quite a project you have there!

Interesting choice with the R2.8. I'm looking forward for it.

Did the heat affect the boom structure?

The only think I have found is possibly a leaky seal on the ram closest to the fire and I am dropping it off to get checked out and rebuilt if necessary. I haven't found anything to worry me about structural integrity. I figured worst comes to worse I will use the R2.8 for my sons first truck. When I was driving it I swapped a 4bt and a ZF 5 speed, but I have been wanting to use one of the little 2.8s since they came out a couple years ago. Very complete kit from Cummins, and would be a easy fit.

Sooo sorry I haven't been giving regular updates but the business has been swamped this year, and also have been putting up several new buildings along with new equipment. I had problems with Bobcat not being able to get parts because of back order, and since they were not the ones doing the work it just didn't seem like they were to interested in helping. I ended up buying the pumps and other parts threw AGA Parts, (saved me several thousand dollars) and then the whole Covid 19 crap hit the fan and everything became a waiting game if it was coming from out of the country. Right about this time I decided to buy a HAAS mill and lathe and have been setting those up and trying to find time to learn to draw and run the machines. With business starting to slow down now, and the dirt work for the buildings and lot coming to an end I decided to bring the Versahandler inside and start assembling it. Here are some pics of it going back together and machining the adapters to make the Cummins swap possible since there isn't an adapter for the motor/pump combo I will be using.

HAAS VF3-YT, and ST30-Y will make designing and building parts much more fun and easier once I get a little more time using them.
