BEF, please stay off of those ladders....I'm out of fingernails to chew off since the Astros demise.....I can't be worrying about you on ladders. :)

Since you bought it up. I wanted to do something productive so I installed the bracing on the GDO track.

Works great now. No track bouncing, solid as can be. So here is my 2nd YouTube video. Need to adjust open limit a little further. To make sure I unlatch the door first, I unplugged the opener.

Next project is installing outdoor cameras.

68ーF and .03 inches rain.
A drastic, unplanned shift today. Prepping for my battery replacement.

The area of attention

While the current set are something of floor based space hogs the new bank will be wall mounted, 3 rows 4 high. Plans pencilled out and off to HD this morning to buy some 11/2 x 11/2 slotted angle.
Part of the challenge is to get as much prebuilt as possible but actual install can稚 happen until I remove the existing batteries which won稚 be until day of install.
Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day

Which batteries are you going with? Have you seen the Trojan Trillium?

Drew, you do make me chuckle.
When I agonized over this purchase 3 years ago, the most weighed factor was these would likely last my lifetime according to published info, not lithium, but over $1200 each plus installation.

The new lithiums I知 getting are just north of $3k each installed. And that is a good price.

Yes, Tesla makes the Powerwall 2. I had 4 on order right after they announced. Info I read is good. Sadly, Tesla never released the off grid version even 3 years later and the grid tied version is not compatible with my system.

Today痴 solar panels work nicely, problem is storage.

Man I'm really feeling for you having to bite this bullet again. The company that made your old batteries was another hopeful endeavor it turns out. Like Solyndra maybe?

We have a lot of battery PhD's at work. But they're up to their ears in lithium small battery improvement production research right now. They all say to avoid battery backup if you are connected to the grid. Many projects we have are trying to adapt fuel cells to systems to try and get away from batteries. Listening RNG? I have been told to spend your money on generators, if you are connected to the grid, to deal with blackouts.

Ok, I'm stopping worrying now. I had to put 2 braces on my GDO to hold the torque of the motor unit type. be careful please, glad you're better day by day.

Drew, I'm guessing the "tractor driving up and down the beach" job has so many applications by now, they are going to see how much a candidate might offer to pay them for the job. :)

Was nice weather, so I decided to cut some firewood..... Well the chainsaw wouldn't start. The little plastic bubble fuel pump diaphragm was cracked/split and I was about to head 37 miles one way to get one, but decided to check the local owned auto parts and they had one. Also had one for my Echo blower too. Pricier than ebay, but got me rolling fast. Maybe they can stay in business an extra 30 minutes now. LOL. Folks, if it's a small engine you count on, please stock a spare.

I taught the boy how to drive the old Gator HPX today, he's got a ways to go to be able to handle it in tight quarters, but it was a start. He was helping me cut firewood. We cut/split/stacked about a half a cord. Don, the little electric log splitter doesn't have enough umph for 20" rounds of post oak. I had to split them in half, with my pink handled maul, before the little electric splitter could attempt to split them. Even then it was touch and go. I must say though, that this would was really hard oak, having died and been fallen down for at least a year or 2. It worked fine on 10" and smaller. Still, it was a big help. Even the chain saw had to work hard to cut through it. Swinging that heavy maul is for young guys....or retired guys that have the time to recoup.....

Some of the wood I cut was infested with wood ants. You should have seen the chickens going after them. It was natural pest control at it's best. Probably killed about 30 scorpions too, coming out of the holes in the bad parts of the tree trunk.

Cooked some steaks, baked some potatoes, had some Cabernet Sauvignon red wine. Said some grace and praise.

Topps, hope you get to enjoy your chicken and dumplings.

Prayers for those in need.

Kyle on the really big pieces of wood make a cut across the round with your chainsaw about 2"deep where the splitter will push into the wood.

I usually had about 5 pieces on the trees that were really thick and did a chain saw cutter start on all of them at once so I wouldn't have to swing the ax or sledge hammer.

Good evening all. 36F this morning, clear, light north wind. Sky stayed clear, wind became moderate with brick gust, then backed off again, and high temp was 63F. Bike ride this morning, was on the Volagi again, brake adjustment worked, fender still made noise. Did get a nap in. Wife wanted BBQ for dinner tonight, so trip into town, and she got her ribs!
Drew, I use Basecamp to do the bike routes, look in the routing preferences section like faster vs shorter, set that about medium.
Rich have a safe and productive trip.
Randy glad you had a good dinner.
Rick get any hotdogs or marshmallows roasted?
RNG good news on no codes in the van, hope you get the squeaks and rattles worked out.
Buckeye, glad you got the opener to work and had the door unlatched this time :)
Don does the saw cut help with wedges also?
prayers for all.

"Rick get any hotdogs or marshmallows roasted?"

Yesterday afternoon, on 2nd burn pile, the wind came up when the pile was at full blaze. The grass, near the fire, started burning a bit and while putting it out with a shovel, I felt like my marshmallows were getting roasted. So ... yes?
