68°F and .03 inches rain.
A drastic, unplanned shift today. Prepping for my battery replacement.

While the current set are something of floor based space hogs the new bank will be wall mounted, 3 rows 4 high. Plans pencilled out and off to HD this morning to buy some 11/2 x 11/2 slotted angle.
Part of the challenge is to get as much prebuilt as possible but actual install can’t happen until I remove the existing batteries which won’t be until day of install.
Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day

good luck with this David, that's a lot of weight to pick up, watch your back.
Watching your wallet is another consideration...

picked almost ten pounds of peppers this morning, another lady friend came to help, she and I both can't eat hot peppers but her kids will.
Still left a bunch of poblanos on the vine, and the Anaheims seem almost indestructible. That is one serious producer, now understand why Anaheims are so popular,
probably used in much of the mild salsas out there. But we picked today like a frost was coming, so if I get another crop in a week, fine, if not,
the counter is again covered in peppers. Last batch for food pantry, made it into November. Since March...
Honestly I'll be glad to take a break from this, have a lot of other hobbies to explore.

Gorgeous day out, cool, low humidity, warm sun. Will head back out again in a little bit to mow and blow more leaves.
Then I might take some time to study the Garmin again, see what filters are usable. Went through it once, set the rig parameters,
but road routing options were poor, toll road or no toll road, avoid U turns, ferries, etc. Same stuff I've seen for years.
Hoping they had advanced more. Better AI...

No matter what, I always study the route ahead of time using Google Maps, and even zoom in on some intersections and look at them from above.
If I know what restaurant I'm stopping at for lunch, I'll zoom in and check it out by satellite ahead of time, better understand parking lot issues. Stuff you never
have to think about with cars are standard fare if you drive a larger vehicle, much larger. Will the roof ac, the tallest thing up there, live a full
and normal life? Stay tuned...

If I were smart, I'd rig up my laptop to sit up front, and run live using my Mifi. I don't know if Google Maps has a live mode where it follows your vehicle, but
Garmin is good at that. What I object to is the micromanagement of routing such that it takes you off the preferred route to take a "shortcut". It's the shortcuts
that bother me. Yes, let me route on Google Maps and then upload that to the rv units. I could probably pull that off using the laptop, but again, don't know
if you can get a gps driven feed. Need combo of Google routing and rv software that will alarm if clearance or rv unfriendly conditions ahead.

off to work on leaves

It looks like the NE CONUS will seem more winter-like this mid week and the following with both temperatures and weather. Long term weather maps are still all over the place, but there might be periods of snow from the Great Lakes midweek onwards and a possible clipper that may track across NE Thursday/Friday.

Need to pour fist cup of coffee. 37° with cloudy skies this morning. Heading to 43° with rain in afternoon. Pump is out of garden pond. Got last of the things that need to be put away for winter done yesterday. Still need to pick up leaves and make mower and tractor ready for winter. Memorial service for wife at church today. Then my granddaughter will be coming to clean house. That enough for today.

David, $1700 for mounting brackets? :confused2: What are they made out of?

Buckeye, good news on recovery.

Mostly, glad bike is fixed. Enjoy the ride. My bike never left the barn this year. Plan to fix that next year. Hope Panera put something better on the menu. :ashamed:

Drew, how do you like the new Garmin? I got a new one for my car. It has dash and backup camera. Updated all the maps and software. Transferred all my old locations in to it from saved files. Happy with it. Just need figure how to protect backup camera. It just snaps into a plastic bracket. I keep my old Dezl 560 in glove compartment just incase.

Prayers and good wishes for all.

Good Morning All.

Maybe gold plated

Lou, good info, thank you. So many US companies are now owned by companies in
far away lands, and sometimes you wonder "who" a company is any more.

Thomas, may the birthday girl be on a slow roll of happiness today.

I continue to be amazed at what many of you know how to fix/work on.
Sodamo works like an eager beaver on his property, living fully off the grid which I don't think any
of the rest of us do. Am sorry the batteries are failing, that has to be really disappointing. I think we all hope to get
ten years out of quality batteries, especially with today's desulphating smart chargers.
I remember seeing a 950 dollar lithium battery at the rv store, I think a group 31, maybe smaller, and
when I think you'd probably need about thirty of those to work...what a huge cost.
Doesn't Tesla make high end storage banks?

You know you have to spend the money on the batteries, but it should have been five years from now.
This sounds like an early adoption of tech that just didn't work out well.
Sun, wind and water are silent power. Too bad solar panels and windmills aren't attractive, maybe make the windmill look
like a large tree...and come up with green solar panels that work just as well.

Drew, you do make me chuckle.
When I agonized over this purchase 3 years ago, the most weighed factor was these would likely last my lifetime according to published info, not lithium, but over $1200 each plus installation.

The new lithiums I’m getting are just north of $3k each installed. And that is a good price.

Yes, Tesla makes the Powerwall 2. I had 4 on order right after they announced. Info I read is good. Sadly, Tesla never released the off grid version even 3 years later and the grid tied version is not compatible with my system.

Today’s solar panels work nicely, problem is storage.

It’s at a large church in the black community, we might be the only white people there, we were last time.

Been in that situation, and had a great time. Sounds like you will too.

I’d build a rack with channel. Many yrs ago I was PM for a large UPS (2 x 1MVA) that had a large battery room, all racked at least 2 rows high.
