A decent day.

A perimeter walk with Brogen w/o inhaler w/o problems on my end = I am good to go....

CT News: The B17 that crashed was replaced with another B17. They flew with passengers with long lines waiting according to local TV coverage. Wifey made it "very clear" that I/We would test exercise my "death wish":(

That’s good to hear, Jay 🤙

I’m in a rain delay. Did manage to life backhoe off shipping frame using my forks and tentatively set it down on my dolly just as sky opened up.

Waiting to see which comes first, break in wx or visiting friends.
Of course the good part is I know Lenny will assist if I ask.

David- Your palm trees look well adapted to the predominant breezes with an infinity pool to match. I would have had serious difficulty staying focused on your "off the grid use and with luxuries" plan; like RNG's. We can at least offset all (+) our electrical consumption.

Right now I am trying to figure out how the passive solar gain + wood burning + "free electric" mini-split heating + propane central heating all offset here. I am trying to formulate ?'s to run by all of you and it may take some time. I basically really have to figure out how these air "heat" exchange units work. For openers is it better to run a fast/quick burn in the wood stove to warm things up in-house and then utilize the mini split and exchange "heated in-house" air to outside air?

60°F and rain this morning, dropping through the day to 36° overnight. It had already dropped to 50° by the time I got to work at 07:00.

We got quite a bit of rain last night. Started just after I got home around 5pm, and is supposed to continue until just before noon today. There were a few brief downpours, but mostly it's been a nice, steady rainfall. It's been awhile since we've gotten any appreciable rain here, so it's a welcome event.

No outside stuff yesterday due to the rain, so I spent the evening working on the guitar. Mounted the neck to the body, then started mounting hardware and electronics. Will probably get the electronics all soldered up this weekend, which should make it playable.

Truck loads of fill dirt were being dumped behind the barn yesterday evening. Guess I need to get back there this weekend and sort through my pile of railroad ties for the new shooting berm. Going to pick the good ones and let The Wife's cousin come over and get any he might want, then the rest are going in the big hole as fill.

Paul, guitar looks great. railroad ties are heavy. I tried to lift one by myself, by hand, into the back of my truck. It took all I had, back when I was young.

Woke up at 7:am this morning and it was almost totally dark, the normal sunrise having been cancelled by heavy clouds. That must have been about 8 hours sleep for me, less a few minutes for the inevitable visit to the bathroom. I can manage with fewer hours when needs be and tend to sleep less in the summer months, but cutting that down regularly once it gets to this time of year would have me needing a nap before I finished breakfast. I would sleep even better if only BEF would quit doing scary things up ladders until he's fully recovered :)

Enough steel arrived yesterday for me to make a start on the next project - a solid cover for the water tank. Initially it was going to be a simple four sided flat roof, then I got to wondering how hard can it be to make it octagonal - only one way to find out !

To me the great pleasure of getting older is being able to take hours, days, weeks, or months over something. What would once have been a reckless waste of time is now just slightly foolish.

I'm in. nice project to look forward to. New guy at work was just telling me of a large octagon project he helped fab up. For a large centerpiece of a huge greenhouse showroom at Texas A&M in the Agriculture building.

Here's the new game.....

The thing I like about getting older is.....I don't actually mind the fall time change, because I can go to bed earlier without a guilty conscience. :)

51 and chilly out on my skunk patrol. None seen after a 20 minute search. Still not gonna let Coco out until light. Kyle, thanks for the reminder on using Dawn...I did that last time this happened.

David, good luck on your BH mounting...I thought you always hooked them to hyd. first to use their movement to position them. Never had one...always thought a lot about it.

Eric, great project. One day 100 years in the future some new resident will look at it and marvel about how the old-timers did such wonderful craftsmanship.

Ron, sounds like you need a rest day.

Dale Watson is gonna be at the Richmond Folk Festival this weekend. Always nice to put a little Texas in Virginia.

Friday, already?

Maybe someone will have Texas style pit BBQ for sale too. :)

Wngsprd, I do. Will have to wait until tomorrow when high with be 50°.
Hooking hydraulic pump to PTO is first on my list of things to do when getting BH on tractor.
I should brag about never being sprayed by a skunk. But here is one recipe for a skunk wash.
Skunk Wash Formula

1 quart of 3% Hydrogen Peroxide

1/2 cup of Baking Soda (Sodium Bicarbonate)

1 teaspoon of liquid soap

Mix together to make a shampoo for your furry pal.

Rinse well to remove the shampoo from the fur after vigorously shampooing.

You may need to double or triple this recipe depending on the weight of your dog.

Sounds like a good recipe Ron.

I can hear toppop singing The Beach Boys at the cruise.

This work did wear me out.

The bush cutting was a diversion for the worried.

I believe Randy would be the tenor in a doo whop band. Dip dip dip dip....

These products are gentler and less toxic than chorine bleach, making them safe for most fabrics and dyes. Hydrogen peroxide will whiten and brighten clothes, disinfect laundry, and remove stains. Pour it directly on stains such as blood. Add 1 cup of hydrogen peroxide to whites in the washing machine to brighten them.

We have 59% Hydrogen Peroxide at work. The maximum legal strength allowed to be trucked over the road. We had to receive training. Dilution is the solution to pollution.

69°

Perfect weather day. Sitting on front porch enjoying the day.

Hi guys. I’ve taken a break from tbn, but I think I’m back. I am having some issues with my dad, age is getting to him, he wants to argue with everyone. Not a lot of fun.

Sorry about your dad. My ex wife had a dad who had to be locked in his own home. Not a pretty picture. Prayers.

Welcome back.

What a great thread you started.

My dad has his moments like that, especially if you get rid of some junk he absolutely has no reason to keep.

Showed wife how the snowball shrub grew thru the wire fence. She said cut em. She wants to thin the main bunch and get rid of the extra.

Fence is gone.

That ac unit was from pre geothermal. It’s not connected to anything, I just haven’t gotten rid of them.
