Usually get about 6 hours sleep, sometimes more, sometimes less. While I do like nap, not consistent with that.

Poor Coco, although I’m gonna guess she’s taking it in stride.

Sounds like a great trip, Jay. Have to admit I was a tad envious reading about the chowda and lobster.

Back from town a bit later than hoped, but successful outing. Wife has opted to get her cataracts done. Got my wiring etc at HD, new group 51 battery at WallyWorld.
Lunch was up at the university observatory.

Got the backhoe altogether. I do wish there had been decent instructions, wouldn’t have taken so long.
Was hoping to get it mounted on tractor, but I quit when it started to rain. Didn’t want the added distraction. I think this initial mounting maybe something of a challenge as I left it on the shipping crate, a bit lower than it needs to be and about 6 inches too far away to hookup PTO to get hydro power. Couldn’t help but think having hoses to hook to tractor would be a great benefit. Told wife I think first job once the bh is mounted is to make sure my dolly works.
So at this point I’m guessing this might take awhile unless I’m extremely lucky. This first mounting will be a learning experience not to be rushed.

RNG, following with interest. A really good move to make sure your grid tied system is NOT dependent on the grid. Not familiar with the Schnieder products, but the new Outbacks seem to take that approach, the grid is just an AC source, like the generator.

Boy, tough news for the neighbor when you are called for help and can’t fix it.

Woke up at 7:am this morning and it was almost totally dark, the normal sunrise having been cancelled by heavy clouds. That must have been about 8 hours sleep for me, less a few minutes for the inevitable visit to the bathroom. I can manage with fewer hours when needs be and tend to sleep less in the summer months, but cutting that down regularly once it gets to this time of year would have me needing a nap before I finished breakfast. I would sleep even better if only BEF would quit doing scary things up ladders until he's fully recovered :)

Enough steel arrived yesterday for me to make a start on the next project - a solid cover for the water tank. Initially it was going to be a simple four sided flat roof, then I got to wondering how hard can it be to make it octagonal - only one way to find out !

To me the great pleasure of getting older is being able to take hours, days, weeks, or months over something. What would once have been a reckless waste of time is now just slightly foolish.

Coffee is done brewing. 57° with with s few clouds. Heading to 67° with rain in PM. Got about 100 rocks out of garden pond yesterday. Got some sore joints. Need to do some maintenance to cleanup dirt and other debris that was under rocks today. Did not get to Menards. Good thing. Next week is 11% off. No other plans today.

Wngsprd, sorry Coco had to get a unwanted bath.

David, I still have a hard time getting the BH on my tractor. Have put it maybe 50 times. The dolly helps. But sometimes is in the way.

Good Morning All.

Should be a good project.

51 and chilly out on my skunk patrol. None seen after a 20 minute search. Still not gonna let Coco out until light. Kyle, thanks for the reminder on using Dawn...I did that last time this happened.

David, good luck on your BH mounting...I thought you always hooked them to hyd. first to use their movement to position them. Never had one...always thought a lot about it.

Eric, great project. One day 100 years in the future some new resident will look at it and marvel about how the old-timers did such wonderful craftsmanship.

Ron, sounds like you need a rest day.

Dale Watson is gonna be at the Richmond Folk Festival this weekend. Always nice to put a little Texas in Virginia.

Friday, already?

Wngsprd, I do. Will have to wait until tomorrow when high with be 50°.
Hooking hydraulic pump to PTO is first on my list of things to do when getting BH on tractor.
I should brag about never being sprayed by a skunk. But here is one recipe for a skunk wash.
Skunk Wash Formula

1 quart of 3% Hydrogen Peroxide

1/2 cup of Baking Soda (Sodium Bicarbonate)

1 teaspoon of liquid soap

Mix together to make a shampoo for your furry pal.

Rinse well to remove the shampoo from the fur after vigorously shampooing.

You may need to double or triple this recipe depending on the weight of your dog.
