I never understood what those bars were for. Now I know.

I bet, I will see that picture in my minds eye, everytime I see a truck with those bars.

Thanks. Thanks a lot.

Has to have been a set up shot. No way they would get far without being stopped and cited.

Only a few pounds tongue heavy...

This is enough pickup, but not nearly enough trailer (in length or strength).

I'm surprised it's not too high.

Overall height of that tractor is probably about 13'6". Most states have a max height without permits of 13' 6" to 14' 6" with the exception of Alaska at 15'. Pretty sure he is over.

Is this 1900 pounds of laminate flooring adequately secured by closing the tailgate??

The pallet is shrink wrapped, and there is a strapping band,,,

Many pickups (like mine) don't even have a spot halfway in the bed where you could put a strap, only corner to corner.

And if you could put a strap. What good would that do in a roll over for this shrink wrapped load?

For loads like that, maybe a tarp works best. Out of sight, out of mind.

My dump truck has a better chance of catching it before it goes through the back window but I’ve hauled a lot of flooring that way. Or sometimes I throw a strap over for show like this. IMG_7422.JPG

OOPS, no pic,
my daughter needed three sheets of 3/4" 4X8 plywood,, in the same truck, today.

We slid the plywood in over the closed tailgate of the 6 1/2 foot bed,,

She INSISTED that we add a strap to keep the plywood in the truck,,,

NOT how to haul (or toast) bagels.

920x920.jpg

"This Sunday, Oct. 6, 2019 photo provided by the Indiana State Police shows a load of frozen bagels that ended up toasted and strewn along a northwestern Indiana highway after a semi-trailer's rear axle caught fire near Rensselaer, Ind. State police say an off-duty trooper noticed smoke pouring from the rear of a box trailer being hauled Sunday along northbound Interstate 65. The southbound trooper turned around, but by the time he stopped the truck south of I-65's Rensselaer exit, its trailer's brakes were burning as the flames spread into its 38,000-pound load of frozen bagels"

Absolutely strap it down. I have witnessed flying plywood from a trailer ahead of me. Fortunately it did not hit me.

Speaking of plywood---------
Some years back while driving on a very lightly snow covered road my PU suddenly lost all traction and a sheet of plywood shot out from under.
Seems that a delivery vehicle shed the plywood as he went uphill.

I walked some and discovered 8 sheets in all that were in excellent condition.
Those sheets served me well! LOL.
Now that was all in the interests of public safety.

Braking on a sheet of plywood on snow is as about efficient as like being on clear ice.
