If not for the overloaded truck that picture would make a pretty puzzle. Nice looking rig too

Thanks, the background is my retirement home. This is my typical load.

Rides much better without 2000lbs of logs up on the tongue.

I know! I was admiring that trailer.

Yes, VERY NICE trailer. Tractor not too shabby either.

Thanks

I like the logs. What is the plan for those? Jon

My son has been making rustic furniture and selling. Not sure what he'll mill them into.

Reiser 22'. It is a 14k equipment trailer and weighs about 3600lbs.

3600 lbs ??? No wonder I could hardly pull this monster uphill with a light tractor.

Bozo delivered a water tank, then drove down this grade while I screamed at him him not to. Then his F350 didn't have traction to turn around and get out. That was definitely Towing Something Wrong. Amateur delivery driver!

I discovered later he also cut the corner getting from the driveway back onto the county road and gouged huge ruts in the shoulder of the ditch. At least there he had the traction of his truck tires on asphalt so he got out without assistance.

My post with 3 photos struggling in the rain. To get the trailer back onto firm ground I had to plant the backhoe feet and dig in the edge of the loader bucket, then pull a foot at a time with the backhoe bucket curl - the strongest force I had available.

After I got the trailer tires back on firm ground I towed the monster up the grade you see here, but nearly at the limit of my traction.

I remember seeing your post about that. Most of the 14k trailers I looked at were between 3300 and 3900 pounds, so you were dragging a heck of a load with your backhoe.

I think if it were me in that situation, I would have given them a choice; leave it set till it is dry or pay a landscaper to make it all as it was before they arrived. Only equipment I move around on my land when it is wet is light stuff that won't leave mudholes and ruts to deal with later. My trailer with about 6000 on the deck compacts dry soil/sod about an inch, I would hate to see how deep it would go in mud...

I don't know why more equipment delivery drivers don't walk the driveways they are delivering to and, if necessary, unload on the county road and have you come out and drive/haul whatever it is they are delivering into your place. I've had only one guy do that and call as I request in my shipping instructions. The rest show up at the house and ask how they are going to turn around. I told one to back out (1200') and unload at the start of the driveway as I suggested.

When I was in college I drove truck for a lumberyard. Whenever it wasn't obvious what the driveway situation was like I would definitely stop on the street and walk back to check it out. I'm good at backing trucks up but that can burn a lot of time and it just isn't a ton of fun. That said, it doesn't take THAT much room to turn a straight truck around so unless you have drop-offs to deal with or landscaping or something there usually is a way to wiggle it around in tight spaces. Obviously snow/rain/mud/etc. can compound the issue.

Last week we had another 'Bozo' delivery go wrong: Ordered a mattress from Mattress Firm, a national company that should have written up the order competently. I told the salesman all gps programs locate my postal address a thousand feet beyond where our shared easement departs the county road so for delivery instructions set driver's gps to an imaginary gps address I provided. Be sure to phone before last mile.

Driver never phoned. I noticed him way down the easement trying to turn his box truck around outside the neighbor's gate where there wasn't room. Finally the neighbor opened his gate so the truck could turn around inside instead of destroying the gate.

After delivery I noticed the salesman had screwed up. My postal address wasn't on the delivery instructions so the driver didn't recognize my mailbox as he drove right past it. So two errors wasted that driver's time: the order wasn't written competently, and the driver didn't phone.
