Good morning!!!!

Good morning. 66 now, going to near 90 today. Cold down for the weekend. High of 75 predicted this weekend.

The ordeal with the roofer is about over. This has been interesting. Yea, that is a nice way to state it. The work is done well....but the scheduling is like a Chinese fire drill, the owner of the company operates on a shoe string. He has to finish the trim around the new skylights.....which were supposed to be done last Friday, hopefully Thursday. I am not holding my breath. He isn稚 getting the balance due until it is done. I covered his payroll Saturday as part of the remaining balance. The guys needed paid...they are hard workers.

Off to Alabama today. Got to look at some machine damage that didn稚 happen in 5 minutes. Someone knew it had a problem and did nothing about it. Of course they expect the company I work to pay for it. This one is above my pay grade....so my answer is no and they can go over my head....

Thoughts to everyone who are need them.

Have a safe and good day

Maddie kept her BW at the ranch. She'd start out in back of shop, across concrete, and down the hill by the pool, into the grass. She would crank the handle bars and spin around 1-2 times in the grass. She went too far once and slid into the tank backwards into about 8" of water. She always said .... that was "her best one". Our German Shepard ... Buddy never left her side when she visited the ranch. Big Wheel chasing was one of his favorite games.

Maddie ... same tank ..... almost 13 years later.

The lake draining is going very slow. The gas-powered pump only runs for about 1-1/2 hours per tank, and they haven't been very diligent in checking on it. Add the run-off from the rains all weekend, and it really netted no change.

Oh dear, your pond sounds to have developed reluctance-to-empty syndrome and I fear it may be too late to take the subtle siphon approach. These situations can quickly escalate, with futile spending on larger pumps bringing ever wetter weather, the only thing getting drained fast being your bank account.

You need to understand your pond's concerns, it is probably just shy and terrified that you will be showing pictures of it's bare bottom all over the internet

Good morning all. For the first time in many weeks we have high pressure coming and a possibility of a whole week of dry weather. Could at last be hay making time.

Rick, great picture of Maddie and Buddy
I can't help thinking Maddie should be driving something as tough and protective as Buddy was - a Volvo could be too boring, is there another classic she could borrow for the end of the school year - like a Sherman tank ? :)

Eric, I forgot to ask, do you get a bit melancholy when you have to send the sheep off? Or are you actually glad?
I confess I am sometimes pleased to say goodbye to those that cause trouble, like the one that repeatedly got it's head stuck in a fence.

There are others though that it's hard not to become slightly attached to. This year we had a lamb born with a black patch over one eye, when most of them are all pure white. When the first lot went to market, this one weighed only 30kg. It must have received a tip off, as it managed to stay at exactly 30kg for many weeks, while the rest were all growing. Today it has a paint mark on it's rump that signifies it has reached optimum condition and weighs 40kg. "Patch" (really shouldn't give them names!) leaves on Thursday after a short but I would hope, fairly contented life and there is a chance I will have a slight lump in my throat as I close the gate.

I never feel bad though at helping to produce food and this land is far better suited for livestock than arable. Most ewes will keep calling for their lambs for a day or two after they have gone and that makes you even more aware that lives have been taken away, though of course if all humans became vegetarian, none of the lambs would have existed in the first place.

95 going to 73, or the other way around.

Toppop, glad to see your sense of humor as you move towards your valve job. RNG, thanks for posting the Mayo info...never really knew too much about the procedure, but the video really helped. Learn a lot of stuff here on tbn.

and nice shots of the planes...sorry to see the tour doesn't come east, but maybe that's an excuse to get back to the Four Corners of New Mexico or western Colorado.

Speaking of planes, I had a great time this morning watching the jets overhead and their contrails before sunrise...some days can only barely hear them (36,000 ft) and with no contrails, never find them...but today contrails everywhere including a very sharp "S" curve one being carved overhead...most are on the way to New York or Boston, or elsewhere.

While feeding the birds, got stung on the pad of the thumb...never had that happen when lifting the roof up on a seed feeder, and only rarely on the hummingbird feeders. Have seen more than normal number of bees, bald face hornets and wasps this year....and butterflies everywhere...lots of wildflowers blooming all summer...and the buckwheat and sunflowers draw them in.

Kyle, cool pix of Maddie and Buddy. He sounds like he was a great dog.

Went to the Costco on the far side of town yesterday...had a gift card for a nearby Chinese restaurant so made it a long Costco run...fortunately they had the 0w20 Mobil 1 oil I needed since it was $10 off per box...grabbed 4 boxes. Nearly everything we buy was on special pricing so stocked up...but wow...over $500. Checked out the tires since I'm soon in need. Probably get them when they put Michelins on sale next month.

BEF, didn't realize you lived that far north in Maryland...kinda thought you were closer to DC.

Eric, always nice to read about the lambs and sheep. Have they started building that new neighborhood?

Does anyone nearby raise cattle for meat?

I have a chicken that I wouldn't mind seeing go.......She keeps running into my barn before the garage door shuts. Sometimes, I leave her in there for a few hours to see if she'll learn.

Another hot one in central Texas. If only a pop up shower could come bring us rain and cool us off....100F and 105 Heat index

Allergies are hitting our family. Very common late July and August.

Prayers for those in need.

Good day.

Drinking first cup of coffee. 66° with partly cloudy skies this morning. Heading to 88° with mix of sun and clouds. Maybe a stray thunderstorm. If thunderstorms stay away. I will mow lawn today. No other plans for the day.

Buckeye, and Randy keep giving the recovery reports. Prayers sent.

Farmer, best wishes son gets better. Prayers sent.

Rich, got my roof replaced in June. I paid a premium to have it done. No money needed up front. Allowed me to pay with a credit card. At least I got the 1% kickback. Hope yours gets finished quickly.

Good Morning All.

?

Well, the northern border of the county is PA, and the southern border is VA and the potomac river. I'm not far from either border, but closer to PA. DC is still pretty close, less than an hr away.
Google says im 15 miles from PA, 50 miles from DC via road.
