Judge Judy would go after the fuel filter maker, then she'd get a new hair doo..........

My mother tells me judy's new hair doo is terrible...

I been keeping my fuel in a 30 gal metal drum for the past 4 years, wonder if I'll get rust in my tractor's plastic tank...................

I STILL wonder where was the fuel filter in all this? I think it's the smoking gun.

A metal fuel can is just fine as long as you always keep it full of fuel. Let it stand around for a few years empty.... That's another story.

I get a kick out of reading 1 star business reviews on a Google search. What you often find when you check on the "one star" rater's rating history, they tend to give out just either 5 stars or 1 star. Not many 3 stars from these guys. Not sure how some people's mind works. Life is either black or white for them, no such thing as grey. Truth has many sides, just depends on what side your standing in how you perceive it. As a result. I don't put too much faith in a single person's good or bad review. If there aren't a good number of reviews, the reviews are worthless.

I've read this entire thread and one of the main problem seems to be "rust". I too question the fuel filter effectiveness but as to how/where the rust is coming from: " I have made nearly 20K gallons of home brew BioDiesel..." That struck me as a possible fuel quality issue. Maybe there is a point of contamination in the home brew process. I really don't know but I think both parties in this discussion have maintained pretty good decorum when compared to some internet slug fests I've followed. Good Luck.

Sorry for the confusion... The BioD ref was to show knowledge of filtration and fuel systems...
My last BioD was made back in 2010, my friend retired from his restaurant chain and I lost access to the fryer oil, ending my $1/gal fuel.

My diesel tractor has only had over the road diesel in it, fill the containers at the same time I fill my Ram.

Do you buy fuel from the same place? How often had you replaced fuel filters before you started having problems? The dealer says the filters fell apart in his mechanic's hands. I have seen some really dirty filters in past years but never have seen one that was close to falling apart..
