Good Morning!!!! 71F @ 6:30AM. Plentiful sunshine. High 96F. Winds S at 10 to 15 mph.

Kyle, several sections of the Deere dealer's quote featured a Customer Discount line, but none even got close to 15%. 11% on the base tractor, then down to 6% on the loader, even lower for the accessories like the top'n'tilt. No discount on labor. The same family owns all the Deere dealerships in the area, so I'll have to go at least an hour to find anything different. I've skimmed the ads for used tractors, but there's a problem on the early ones with a valve in the FEL hydraulics that apparently takes a lot of persuasion to get a dealer to fix. Don't need that right off the bat. I'm keeping an open mind about LS, so I'll see what I see at the dealer this afternoon and then figure out what the next steps are.

Hope all of you are taking it easy in this heat. Drew, you're smart getting an early start, and even smarter for coming into the A/C when the temps spike. Hope the leg cramps stay away.:thumbsup:

Headed for another motorcycle ride'n'camp with the Airheads this weekend, and decided to put the eve painting off 'till next week. So instead, yesterday I dug into installing the new instrument on the big enduro bike and got it all working. Lots of cut-solder-shrink wrap, lots of head scratching with the vague instructions and cryptic electrical schematic, and lots of button pushing to get all the settings right. This morning I'll tidy up the wiring and reinstall the headlight and front cowl, and that job'll be done.

Then off to see the LS man before it gets too hot to sit in the seat. He says he has both a XR4150H and XR4155H (both open station, which is what I'm wanting), and he'll drop the prices by $6K if I don't want the backhoes that are already installed on the two units on the lot. I've only used my backhoe a handful of times in the last 9 years, but I was really glad I had it when I did. But my Nardi is pretty anemic, and just not up to even middling tasks like digging out a root ball from just an 8" trunk. And getting it on and off the tractor is an ordeal as well, so I'll have to think some more about a backhoe, and if I'd be better off to just use that money toward a used mini-excavator.

Is your present back hoe a 3 point mount? The LS backhoes are subframe mounted. You don’t have to remove 3-point lower arms either.

If the LS tractors have LS LB3104 backhoes installed, ask the dealer what he would charge for a new backhoe later. I believe the LB3104’s are over $7K. I can get a price from my dealer ...... if that helps you?

Is your present back hoe a 3 point mount? The LS backhoes are subframe mounted. You don’t have to remove 3-point lower arms either.

If the LS tractors have LS LB3104 backhoes installed, ask the dealer what he would charge for a new backhoe later. I believe the LB3104’s are over $7K. I can get a price from my dealer ...... if that helps you?

The Nardi came with a 3PT mount that was very, er, flexible. To the point of being scary to use. I made a frame mount that is very solid, but that requires a lot of jogging 'round with the stabilizers and boom, and more than a little crawling around in the dirt, to get all the bolts lined up. I won't be sad to see that setup disappear up the driveway when the time comes.

The quote sez the backhoe is an LB3100, but I could find no mention of that model on the LS web site. This salesman has been sloppy with his info, so it could be just a typo. We'll see.

Thanks for the link. Doesn't sound as bad as what I'm dealing with now, but a mini-ex with a thumb still sounds a lot better. I think it would work better for one of the big jobs I have ahead of me, that of pulling all the burned tree stumps out in the surrounding uncleared areas of the lot, all in the name of fuel reduction. The ground is pretty steep, and my guess is I'd be using the boom to row myself back up the hill pretty frequently, something that's not so easy with a tractor.

I think LB3100 is a series and the LB3104 is model specific to the bigger XR41xx tractors.

Took off early from work yesterday to go help daughter and SIL on house build.. They were putting up the floor trusses (have daylight basement walls mostly done).. They are almost 36' so a bit awkward at times, and after awhile, they were getting tired. We had them all up when I left last night, they just needed to fasten the last 4. I got home around 9pm, very tired.. thought of Bird and his long days recently.. I had some dinner and fell asleep in my chair after a nice shower. They are pushing to get the floor done so they can set the main floor walls today and tomorrow. SIL has been on vacation for 3 weeks, goes back to work on Monday, so they are trying to get as much done as possible.. They have until Aug 15 to get ready for the trusses (delivery scheduled for up on the top of the walls).

I am trying to decide if I can/should take more time off today and go help. They have some folks coming today to help set walls, but they still have the floor sheeting to put down after finishing up the trusses this morning..

While I did not see any body damage to golf cart. The abrupt stop against a tree bent the rear axle spring on passenger side. A nice 90° curved bend. What kind of spring can be bent like that without breaking. Removed spring and used 20 ton HF press to straighten it. Everything seems to be working good on cart now.

good job Ron, takes a lickin' and keeps on tickin'...

started mowing the lawn around 7am and got done just before 11, then mowed fields for an hour, wow that was nice in a/c.
Then fireman neighbor wanted to borrow my bush hog so I said sure, but how about doing my potato field weeds while you are at it.
Even in this heat, he wanted seat time and was happy to help, even with the dust and bugs.

earlier this morning was very cloudy and relatively cool, surprisingly nice to be out. No longer, just an oven out there.
