Good Morning!!!! 70F @ 9:00AM. Mostly sunny. High 92F. Winds S at 5 to 10 mph.
Congratulations, Randy, on your big day. Hope the walk down the isle wasn't too long, and you'll continue to make steady progress toward a full recovery.
Thanks for passing along Randy's note, Drew. Reading it was a big relief!
Jay, one of the reasons I left the Kaiser Permanente health plan/complex is that every time I went in for a physical, they'd assigned a new "personal" doctor. Very high turn over, and from experience, many of them were not very good doctors. I'll probably be losing both my internist and urologist to retirement within a few years as well, and I'm not looking forward to the search for replacements.

That's a photo of me using a porta-power to try to pry off the outer CV joint from one of the jack shafts, Kyle. The pliers are holding the ends of an Omega shaped circlip apart, forcing them into a groove in the CV and out of a matching groove in the jack shaft. The porta-power is rated at 1000 pounds force, and it didn't budge the CV at all. Without a better idea, I plan to clean up the parts again in the parts washer, load 'em with grease, and reinstall everything to see if replacing the viscous coupler with a solid splined shaft fixes the vibration problem. If it does, I'll put a few thousand miles on the jack shafts and pull them again in hopes that the splines have loosened up enough to get them apart. I want to polish the CV races because they are left fairly rough at the factory, and they're expensive enough that anything to extend their life would be worth while cost wise.
I plan to stop by the JD dealer tomorrow while I'm in town with a few questions. Mostly about configuration and intended use, and just to get a feel for the place. I was very happy with the way the New Holland dealer treated me when I talked with him about a skid steer, but I see no sense in buying one of their tractors when the LS is available for thousands less, except that the LS dealer is about an hour's drive away.
When you guys tractor shopped, what kinds of questions did you ask the dealer prior to purchase? There's probably enough experience in this group to write a book, and I want to go in with both barrels loaded, so to speak.
Happy Hump Day, Folks!
