Most here on TBN are apparently thinking that this is a vehicle that THEY would not want, and I understand that.
I am thinking that this is now a very rare vehicle, and that someone will seriously want it as a novelty.

Four years ago, I sold my 1986 GMC "Jimmy" diesel on E-bay.
165,000 miles, 29 years old, excellent condition.
Others said $4000 max.
It sold for $8200 on E-Bay, and the buyer paid for shipping to the Bahamas.

I an not the slightest bit concerned about a "thin market"
I only need two potential buyers, both of whom think they MUST have it.
The population of the USA is rapidly approaching 330 million.

I appreciate the timing belt recommendation. I will have that done!

My comment was directed toward collector cars in general. While they may command high prices it's because somebody has spent time and money on it, either keeping it in good shape or restoring it. Yet you will never know what it's worth until you try, and while you can always come down it's pretty hard to go up in price.
Good luck, it would be interesting to see what it goes for if you decide to share.

I will be willing to share the results when the auction is over.

Is it in FL or up here in the Northeast? I'd check the tank for clean fuel and make sure there is no algae buildup prior to starting too. If in FL that is definitely a consideration with all of the condensation.

In the Northeast, in a dry, tight, building.
Is already scheduled for a timing belt replacement.
