I've got a little Briggs on my 22 ton Duer Splitter...

No complaints other than being on the loud side... it sits most of the year and starts easily when needed.

Ditto on all of the splitting comments especially the Fiskar's axe! A few years back I broke down and bought an Arien's splitter, it has a Subaru engine. No complaints here, it starts on the second pull.

Several years ago when we burnt wood on the farm we used a 3 pt splitter.
I liked it in the vertical mode, I'd put a big tall round on the ground set the splitter shoe on that,
bring a big bucket load of rounds up to it, scoot the rounds onto the splitter, toss the splits into the front of the wood shed,
repeat 3-4 times then push and pile the splits in the wood shed with the bucket and repeat.
Could do this several times in a day and almost never have to bend over, it was easy on the back and could do a few cords in an afternoon.
This was for an outside boiler so 24-30" length pieces.

Just bumping this thread now that the weather is warming up. I posted some more pictures in the "todays seat time thread".

Hopefully we can start working on the yard, leveled some dirt out today.

I was actually going to build my shop/barn with the side facing due south for the purpose of a solar system.

I looked into the Tesla solar system with battery. Idaho will not let Tesla install their systems in the state. The conversation was going great until I said I live in Idaho. He said "talk to your legislators." I think it has to do with protecting energy jobs in the state. So, moral of the story is; if I want to buy a gas guzzling H1 hummer I can. If I want to produce my own power so at some point I will not have a power bill.....I can't. :confused3: Remember "Life, Liberty and the pursuit of happiness." Maybe no power bill would not bring me happiness.:confused2:

Did not know that.

I found out about a month ago.

Could they sell it to you? I mean there has to be a way around this, right. Perhaps you could install yourself with their guidance:D Or maybe one of your friends at Tesla could come for a visit....

One of my younger sisters (I got two) is going to move to somewhere in Idaho, don't know where yet but they are looking . . . they are well off and decided to sell all their rental properties $$$$$$$$$$$$$ and move.

There's a lot of good solar panels out there. There surely are alternatives to the Tesla powerwall. They'd probably also be without the reliability and privacy issues the powerwalls have.

I did not ask about that specifically. I did say I'm barely over the border no one would know, remote area. He just said they could not install the system. Next time I'm in SLC I'll ask more questions.

Molalla1,
Lots of very pretty places in Idaho, keep us updated.

I don't think it's specific to Tesla. I'm going to stop by our county office tomorrow and ask some questions. As I think about it, I have not seen any solar arrays on homes here.

Unless folks are doing it illegally there are plenty of solar arrays on homes here in the northern end of the state.

Sorry haven't looked into solar array yet.

I did get some much needed road base on the road coming into our house. This road had some baseball sized rocks on it. Now they are all covered up with several inches of road base. More coming today for the entry into my garage. After I get it spread and leveled for the most part I'll put on my back blade and fine tune it. With any luck I'll get my bride to take some pictures.

A land plane is now on my want list.

Call Backwoods Solar. They are in Idaho. They mostly sell all off grid and solar equipment, but I bet they have recommended installers as well. Great group of folks.

Wow, you sure know how to do things right with a good sense of taste. Please post more pics, maybe of equipment and landscape as well as the link to that photo thread you plan.
