Flail Mower Titan Flail mower

Going slow is not a problem, I have to work around so many trees and hills that I would for sure tear something up if I moved too fast! That sounds like a good way to reinforce the back, I have all of the tools I need, and I have access to a mag drill as well. I never thought about putting a weldment on the inside in the back, I will have to check for clearance on that when I get home, but I think that there is room. I also just happen to have some flat bar and some DOM tubing laying around that I could use.

Hello hawk10,

The weldment with the tab weldments goes on the outside and you can reinforce it with a piece of flat stock ONLY IF you have the clearance so that the knives do not impact the nuts and the flat stock that is bolted to the inside.

Yeah, I am sure the knives hitting the nuts on the inside would make for a bad day! I had that backwards, I thought we were talking about putting the reinforcement on the inside of the mower. I am probably going to draw it in Solidworks so that I can be sure of everything before modifying it, I can check for clearance in the model. Now all that I have to do is find the time to work on it! Thank you for the feedback! :)

Drawing the Titan mower in Solidworks! Now that is impressive.

Hello hawk10,

What is really trying is when you go to use a purchased copy of Autodesk to do simple drafting and then find out that you can not use it as the software is no longer supported )*&^%$#%^&*(&^) grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr, hissssssssssssssssssssss,spit(*&^%$#$%^&*()(*&^%$%^&*()(*&^%$%^&*()

That would be extremely frustrating, if you bought it you should have access no matter when you bought it! If you want some software that works pretty well and is cost effective check out Draftsight, I think it is like $100/year but it is a very capable 2D program. I only have access to Solidworks because of where I work, I use it to work from home sometimes. There is no way I could buy a license of it for myself, it is several thousand $$$ a year

Fusion 360 is free for hobbyists or businesses making under $100k a year. It's an Autodesk product though if you are tweaked at them. I've used it a little bit for some 3d printers model making. Haven't messed with AutoCAD since high school back in the 90s. Fusion may import the AutoCAD files.

hawk10,

Once you have the SW drawing complete, would you share it so that I can use the viewer to open and manipulate it? I can then have a fab shop do the mod for my Titan flail.

I will absolutely share it, once I get it done what file type do you need, STEP? I started to measure and model it last night, it is very strange that this is a Chinese mower that seems to be designed in imperial units. When I was measuring the housing last night it would be even numbers like 4-inch, 13.5-inch, etc. I am pretty sure that China uses the metric system so this was either designed in the USA and built in China or copied from another mower.

This mower is a copy of existing mowers, but with some modifications to make it cheaper. It's not a very well made mower in my opinion, but can be modified to probably last awhile.

If you are working in Solid Works, I believe SW has a free viewer which allows viewing and manipulating the object. You certainly know better than I. Here are the file types as I know them;

".sldasm", ".sldprt" and ".slddrw"

Thank you.
