Biggest problem I've had is with dirt/debris collecting in front of the skids and causing grooves in the dirt and then leaving clumps. Others mentioned that guide wheels have stopped this. I vote for these, but they should be in front or built right into the front of the skid so that nothing sticks out to the side to allow getting in close to something when mowing/cutting.
Blade changeout for my Frontier cutter is easier than it was on the JD LX-4 because the stump jumper doesn't drop down like it did on the LX-4, but the blade bolts on the Frontier are a pain in requiring that they be hammered out after the nuts are removed. They're also tough to get back in, but I seemed to have solved that by applying some fluid film to the bolt spud that sticks out to hold it in place.

I'm going to suggest some features with pictures that we use in Portugal that may or may not work on the US market. We have really good results over here. These could be combined with some features already mentioned by other users.
1- Half round skid plates. This works very nice and will prevent the grooves and collecting of all kinds of stuff in front of it.
2- Offer 3 types of options for the rotor. One being using the regular blades that you're use to. Second being using high strength chains, that could be offered in two for lower HP tractors or 4 for higher HP tractors. These works really nicely in land clearing jobs, specially with hidden "treasures" like rocks and such as it doesn't have an edge to wear out or get bent. The chain will skip right over. Of course that this won't give a smooth cut like the blades. It's most used on overgrowth brush and stuff bigger and harder than grass or pasture.
3- Offer models with side-shift. This allow for the cutter to move sideways and mow in between trees or objects.
4- Using chain skirts to contain the projection of debris. Shown on previous pictures.

I can see where this would ride over the rough terrain good but it should float like the King Kutter Flex Hitch. That way it could twist independent of the tractor.
Also, the shoes are not rounded on the bottom for turning. Swinging the deck sideways would slice off any hump of dirt or sod.

Agree. Jmc, This is an international forum. Go away you jerk. Pony up and buy a $10,000 Brown cutter if buying USA is so important to you. Most tractors that will operate this size rotary cutter are made overseas...who the **** cares if a relatively low tech cutter is manufactured there too.

Some of the older bush hogs had a side panel you could unbolt and remove so that you could side discharge the clippings. I really wish they still had this. Old timers said you could even use it for small scale hay operations in a pinch. Plus it would be nice so the clippings wouldn't windrow and kill the grass underneath it in pasture management situations.

I use mine on pretty heavy brush more like small trees what I would like is when the blades hit something bigger and fold back on their pivots a semi circular cerated section came into play and sawed through the tree

If you want a manicured lawn, buy a finish mower, not a brush cutter.
