Good Morning Everyone!!!!!!

36ºF was today’s low; 49ºF presently mostly cloudy and the cloud deck is thickening. It looks like a mostly cloudy PM with temperature ~ 60ºF. A rare decent night’s sleep probably helped by the open windows keeping the bedroom temp down. Thankfully Mr. Knee was stiff this AM; no real soreness nor swelling.:D. Nothing really planned for today; maybe a try at walking the lower perimeter later.

Wifey made waffles yesterday morning with uncured thick cut bacon, and local maple syrup. I was probably hyperglycemic when I started moving yesterday.

All the posts about high grease, fat, sugar, salt, and empty calorie foods is making me hungry. After PT tomorrow we may be having lunch eat a restaurant called the “Belly of the Beast.” The menu offers really healthy Don approved entrees as well as less than healthy entree choices like scrapple. I have not eaten scrapple in a long time. I never see it in grocery stores around here. Belly of the Beast - Menu

…. You would have consume a lot of beer before ever wanting to eat the extruded mini turds that were inside.- Eric. Somehow that “food” product does not seem edible w/o a couple of “(USA) cold ones.”

Bill- I am happy to read your trip to the “Big City” was incident free.

Roy- I am happy to read that you and Suzette has a decent day trip and restaurant experience. Tessie’s Tavern looks like an interesting place. Thanks for the link.

A Springfield, MA PO was shot last night. He took 2 .22 rounds to his left arm- a graze and one round in his (L) elbow. The perp had a a rather extensive rap sheet. Something is wrong with a legal system that allows these revolving door criminals are to plead innocent and/or be free to roam the community.

Drew- A discharged battery on a new fancy tractor? I hope that you find the cause.

…. Methinks you're over achieving, again... - RNG. Thanks for the laugh.:D and the battery post connector switch link.

…. but a more popular etymology is that it's from a Quebecois slang word meaning “mess.”- RonJH. That’s a good looking Tom posing for for your game cam. Thanks for sharing :)

Thomas- Plant life seems out of synch with the current weather around here as well. I’ve been watching the chickadees raking up/gathering Brogen’s fur that we for nesting material the past few days.

Rick- Good luck with the new mower blades. Are they considered “mulching” blades? They look a little different from the originals blades.

Ted- Good luck with your VW’s.

I want to thank everyone for the + thoughts, wishes, and prayers. If Mr. Knee is not complaining nor will I.

I hope that everyone has a decent Sunday and a good start on Monday.

My + thoughts, wishes, and prayers for all.

While relaxing watching tv yesterday evening all 4 of my motion cameras went off. We were surrounded by turkeys on all sides.

Reminds me of FP here.... :duh:

Roy, glad your wifey is out and about.

Jay, glad your knee is not swollen.

LS125, hope your's gets better.

Ron, hope you 2 have a good day.

Drew, I totally understand the serenity of being in the garden on a nice day. But I still hate weeds and bugs. :)

Almost Everything tastes better with gravy or pork added to it.

My friends are in Northern Ireland, on the northern coast. Portballintrae. They sure have a windy, beautiful coast.

Have a blessed day all.

Ok .... we've established that French fries and gravy are great! Now ..... which gravy?

Brown Gravy?

Brown Gravy w/ Cheese Curds (Poutine)?

Country Gravy?

Red Gravy (ketchup)?

Cheese Sauce?

BBQ Sauce?

It doesn't matter as long as the gravy is thick.:licking:

My vote is for:
1) brown gravy
2) country gravy (any kind)
3) cheese sauce

Great, now I'm hungry....

I grew up in a household where my father used a big wooden salad bowl spoon to hold mustard in the bottom, then olive oil poured on top, crushed garlic, then wash it all off the spoon with apple cider vinegar.
And here I am six decades later making the same dressing
because commercial dressings have lots of salt.

I intentionally use apple cider vinegar because I know it is good for me. It is not good for my acid reflux and tender tummy.
It's an acid....duh. So I have to eat with other food, not just an acidic salad alone. Is there a low acid vinegar with equal
benefits?

71 currently, low tonight 65, tomorrow low 66, that will bring the ground temps up. Need warm ground for my okra.

Think I will sleep well tonight. Storms coming in tonight and tomorrow, Sat may be a rainout.

Big wooden spoon had multiple uses.

".... It doesn't matter as long as the gravy is thick."- Lynn. I am still making additional gravy for that turkey breast that I smoked. Even my watery gravies end up thickened.

"... Almost Everything tastes better with gravy or pork added to it."- Kyle. Gravy is a great meal extender and vehicle to re-heat some leftovers. Wifey is not a great fan of pork. I am happy she tolerates boneless, brined, chops for stuffed pork chops or rarely a smoked eye round roast. She does like (leftover) pork stirfried rice.

65°F and another 2.24 inches rain. Looks like another wet soggy day ahead. Gonna be in trouble when that big grow light starts shining brightly. Guess another inside day.

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day

"Rick- Good luck with the new mower blades. Are they considered “mulching” blades? They look a little different from the originals blades."

Kinda long story Jay. The OEM blades for this RFM are $205 for a set of three blades. The OEM blades are 28 3/4" long, 2" wide, 1" drop, and 3/4" hole. I did lots of investigating and found that Oregon has identical "standard cut" blades #92-302) with only difference being length of 28 9/16" or 3/16" shorter (3/32" shorter radius). Oregon also has a Gator "mulching" Blades (#392-302) also 28 9/16" long.

My mower has a "specified" blade overlap of 1 3/16" so the 3/32" shorter blade radius shouldn't make any difference.

Just to be safe, I bought this set of the "standard cut" blades to try. They were just under $59 a set including shipping. That's a savings of $146 as compared to the standard cut OEM blades.

If these blades cut, w/o gaps, I'll order a set of the #392-302 mulching blades next. They'll be right at $80 per set including shipping.

FWIW, I've been running Gator Mulching Blades on our Kubota ZD1211 since replacing the crappy OEM blades at 50 hours. Also put 1000 hours on a JD Z820 with Gator Blades.

Thought you folks might get a chuckle out of this. It was written by one of my neighbors, just one of the very many talented people that enjoy this area with me. If I ever considered myself a farmer on this place, my crops would be manzanita and poison oak. Pete's ode is about the latter:

I had an itch the other day,
I scratched it, then went on my way.
And then i scratched a little later..
Horrified, the itch got greater.
In places now, i must not wiggle.
It's not funny, please do not giggle.
My job demands me straight and true,
But my composer is something this itch can undo.
I see them smirking at my fate,
Oh dear, my problem is so great.
I know this thing will surely pass,
But boy ,right now, it's a pain in the__ _ _.

Gravy on biscuits ..... chipped beef and sausage ...... both good!

We call it ........ biscuits n' gravy.

Everyone in the south calls it biscuits and gravy! :D I love them with some scrambled eggs. But I rarely eat all that heavy stuff for breakfast.
My normal breakfast is one egg, sometimes scrambled with cheese, sometimes fried, two slices of toast and two slices of microwave bacon, 30 seconds and it痴 crispy. That痴 it.

81 now, should be about the high, overcast with spotty sun, and occasional quick showers, nice spring day.
Went to see mom, took her a birthday card, tomorrow is her 96th.

Put the sprayer on the tractor yesterday, time to start battling the weeds.
Have a good day gents. Prayers to all.

After 12 yrs, could use new blades on my riding mower. The RFM is around 20 yrs old with original blades. I sharpen once a year, if they need it or not.

Went to costco after lunch, looked at air fryer but didnt get one. 5 qt for $60.

Ate at TGIF, tried cracker barrel, but huge line. Every TGIF i go in, it just stinks inside. It's like they mop the floors with spilled beer. Food was good.

Roy, the pub looked nice, like to eat at local places like that.

Actually I like'em all, but my preference on French fries is the Country Gravy, also known in some places as white gravy or milk gravy.

There used to be a very popular restaurant on Harry Hines Blvd in Dallas that was called the (Something) Biscuit. I can't remember the first word of the name. And a plate of two of their biscuits with gravy made a good meal with nothing else to go with it, and it seems that was what most of us ordered for breakfast there.

RNG- Thanks for the chuckle. My exSIL was/is a "Big City" woman. In what was probably her first and only outside "in the woods:eek:" bladder event she discovered that poison ivy should not be squatted in nor used for personal care afterwards.

My breakfasts when eaten are pretty healthy. Lately my food choices after breakfast have not been as health conscious.

I was able to walk the lower field (.4 mile) and handled the slope pretty well w/o Brogen. Wifey had some challenges walking him initially until I switched his leash to the chokecollar. No problems after that. I'll try him out tomorrow in the rain. Wifey does not walk in inclement weather. It will be awhile before I take on the upper .4 mile path with its increased slope, bare rock ledge, downed trees, and soft ground in the wet areas..

I do not know why, but on a whim I toggled the ignition switch on my JD D130 rider mower and it sputtered and then started right up. A pleasant surprise. It would not start for me last Fall even with a charger/starter. Maybe the mouse nest under the engine cowling reconnected the wiring harness? 3 out of 4 tires are flat. They are all bad. They've been "slimed" for the last time. This week I'll start the process of replacing all 4. After reading the posts here I'll buy locally rather than order from the internet. This will be my first solo outing w/o supervision since January. No green grass here yet. The rock maples are now budding. There is still a little ice in the most shaded places.

I hope that everyone is having a decent day.

Jay, glad your mower started, three flats, now that's depressing, but thankfully my tractor was not, started right up. I made sure the rear camera system was turned off manually first, wonder if they installed that properly. Everything else is stock and no loose connections.

After picking twenty five pounds of collards, the mowed a lot of roadsides today, fun being out, sitting down comfortably, with noise cancelling headphones making background noise
remarkably low, plus I could hear the radio through it. Just seemed to filter out the din. Sure worth 70 bucks. Very different than my regular hearing protectors.

Shower and shave late today sure felt good, lot of outdoors on me.
even came home to find out I have a date on Friday night across the street at retired neighbors, meeting
a local nurse. At least I don't have far to flee...:D

More storms headed in tonight. Will make mowing lawn tomorrow less dusty, works for me.
