I want to thank all the Vietnam Vets here for their and their families' services and sacrifices. I did not have the honor to serve, but I did have the honor to serve some who did. Sadly there are still troops missing and some are still fighting that War.

Thank you- Jay

67° this evening, got to 73° today, felt really nice for a change. Shorts and a sweatshirt for me today. I'm typing this on my seldom used desktop, but I do like the smooth way everything works on here vs the iMachines, but they are handy.
Farmer, sorry about your cousin, wow, 34 is just getting into life.
Getting the new paver edging together for my front walk, have to get that done, my son in law works for Site One and he sells thousands of feet of it to landscapers, golf courses, etc... He tacks my little 100' order on to a big order and I pay about half normal jobber for it.
Still gotta service my Kubota mower and fix a tire on the little tractor.
I'll be planting flowers in another 2-3 weeks.
My daughter was 39 yesterday, my son and his family are coming to celebrate this weekend, cookout and all that stuff.

Have a great evening and prayers for the needy, in other words, all of us.

Happy Birthday, toppops' daughter!

Update on Jeep.
RNG; the battery issue was a shorted cell. Battery replaced, no charge. Tow to shop, no charge. BUT there is a brake caliper seized. Replace them both with new rotors and pads. Cost $492.oo, parts are expen$ive up here.
They will have it ready to go on Tuesday, for when I deliver the Dodge for bushing work (all of them) on the rear end and a tune up.

Come Monday afternoon I should have a set of 4 new rims for the Dodge. Pictures to follow.

Good Morning!!!! 48F @ 5:00AM. Some clouds this morning will give way to generally sunny skies for the afternoon. High 64F. Winds WSW at 5 to 10 mph.

Seems like cancer strikes without rhyme or reason, Farmer. Nobody's safe, but it's especially tragic for young families. :(

Headed south to the San Francisco Bay Area today for a friend's memorial service tomorrow. Lost him a couple weeks ago on the operating table to a stroke. He was a mountain biking buddy with another friend and I; we'd be out every Sunday, covering up to 30 miles on trails, sometimes climbing as much as 5000 feet. Our friend was always first one to the top. Good times with him on old Norton motorcycles, too. He'll be missed.

Picked up the new bearing for the side-by-side yesterday and also found a source of steel for the firewood pallets. It seems Kubota sends its tractors and side-by-sides over on a sort of pallet made from rectangular steel tubing, and the dealer sends 'em to the scrap yard when they're done unloading 'em. They had a stack of about a half dozen of 'em, each about 5'x10' and a lot of tubes in 'em. Gonna borrow the flatbed trailer next week to bring 'em all home; that should keep me busy for quite a while...

Got a shock from the building contractor when he sent me his estimate yesterday. The cost of the building itself was in line, but the rest was three times his initial guess, most of it tied up in the earth moving operations. His water tank cost was pretty ridiculous, too, and that was just for non-potable storage! Might be time to scale back, or find someone with more realistic expectations for what they're worth. Since the fire, contractors are able to charge a king's ransom for their services, and with all the insurance money floating around, they're getting it.

TGIF gang!:drink:

Sorry about your buddy. My childhood best friend's older sister just passed from a stroke.

The treadmill software update has been a bust.

Good evening all. 61F for the start, wind calm, partly cloudy sky. Sky became mostly cloudy, wind cranked back up, and high temp was 70F. Worked on the chain jump on the Volagi, lower jockey wheel was misaligned, bent it to where it looked better and chain noise was reduced. Then a bike ride to check improvement and yes it was much better. will work with it more this weekend. Did get a nap, no other prjects worked on due to early dinner request by wifey.
Farmer, sorry to hear about your cousin, prayers for the family.
L4N, my old tractor had a history of freezing clutches, the recommendation was to block the clutch pedal down when not used for months. Sorry it took so much to get the jeep to cooperate.
Buckeye, hope they figure why you feel so draggy. Good luck with your treadmill.
Jay I agree with you on the Veitnam War Vets :drink:
Randy happy birthday to your daughter.
RNG sorry about your buddy and the cost of your building plans, Good luck with your UTV repair.
prayers for all.

34 right now...high in the low 50's.

Now real chores today...just hang out and see how things go.
Suzette went off oxygen yesterday! That's great news for us

Good morning all. Warm out, 51 going to 78 today, which means low 80's likely. Then Monday morning it cools off again.
Headed out this morning to plant some extra zinnias and snapdragons I have grown, at a friend's home, then back to work with helper on a number of projects. One lawn to mow, out by the road where the weeds are really coming up.

The guy I hired to do my weedeating pulled this third weekly no show, never called, didn't return my messages, for sure he was never serious about working here. Local landscaping firm too, wonder why, was a 5k contract and I guess too small for him. I find the locals to be very poor businessmen, bad on basics like returning calls, being dependable. Am finding I sure can't apply the work habits I built over 40 years of business to the local tradesmen, makes me just shake my head. I'll be calling other companies later today.

Good news Roy, hope your wife feels much better.

26 and going to a high of 36 °F. Wind SSE 6 mph. Snow in the forecast or today, tonight and tomorrow.
A couple of inches at least.

I was going to take the BB off and put the BH on this weekend. Not now. That will wait until the weekend after I go 'down south'.

I've got a town run to do today as well as the dump. I will also see buddy about my new rims. I can get 4 from him for $800.oo or I can pay Chrysler-Fiat $700.oo for 1. 700 bux is a crazy-stupid price to pay for one 19" rim. for a car.

Have a good day all

Poured second cup of coffee. 36° with rain this morning. Heading to 41° with rain all day. .50 rain already. Got pond nets off yesterday. Saw 1 fish swimming around. Not gold, black. Wonder where that came from. No real plans today. Duct sealing company called yesterday. Coming out Monday morning.

My good friend from Windsor Canada had a stroke earlier this week. Cannot speak or use right hand. Got moved to rehab yesterday. He sure could use some prayers.

Roy, good new about Suzette. Best wishes for continued recovery.

Randy, Happy Birthday wishes for your daughter.

Drew, 5k contract? Did you read the fine print. Maybe he does not start until us guys up north need our lawns trimmed. :D

I missed the salute to our Vietnam Veterans yesterday. Thanks for your service. :drink:

RNG, I like the tribute get togethers for passed friends/relatives. So much to remember and share. Still sad. May your friend RIP.

Prayers for all.

Good Morning All.

Although I wrote (this morning) I don't have any chores today, I am going to have to roll the edges of the drive soon.
I had neglected to put down the driveway markers before the first snow of the winter, so guessed where the edges of the drives was...and, guessed wrong quite a bit. The snow blower didn't do much damage, but the blade (with skid shoes) sure did! As the ground thawed the last few weeks, there was more damage, so that's going to be a chore in the next few weeks, as more snow melts. Still quite a bit of snow on the lawn...
A couple years ago (before I got driveway markers), I used the tractor's rear tires to compact the dirt I'd upset. I think I'm going to do the same this year, along with a roller to finish up the job...anybody got better suggestions (besides "Don't forget to use driveway markers!")?
