Tractor
Kubota B6100E Kubota L 2501 Kubota T1460
I am gonna pick up my new L2501/loader/backhoe combo in a couple of weeks. Its my first tractor, Ive since learned I need a 3rd function added to run a grapple, I would have thought that the dealer would have tried to sell me everything under the sun including the simonize but no, he even suggested I not buy the backhoe cause of cost.

He has ( as he says ) built my tractor already.

Is it too late to have some accessories added without getting assraped cause now they have to go back and undo some thing they have done to add the loader and backhoe?

I also would like a bucket level indicator added cause Ive read its a good thing to have.

Is there anyplace online that I can get an idea of the cost of these accessories ( just the Ill install it myself out the door price ) so that I can get an idea of what I should expect cost wise before I contact dealer?

Cost of a third function will not change;well worth it.Approximately $900+-.I would have the dealer do it before delivery.Bucket level indicator is pretty simple install.Back hoes are quite expensive;hope you have a lot use for one.If they do install the BH make sure you get the three point hitch parts.

Thanks, I need to make sure I make a list of the stuff I need to make sure I get

1- three point hitch parts
2- manuals for tractor, backhoe and loader
3- draw bar
4- Ill add to this as it comes to light

Ill use the backhoe for sure, it will pay for itself, Ive still got a few good years left in me

So is it not possible in this online world to not get prices for this stuff before contacting dealer?

You can use the Kubota on line build tool to get a list price for the 3rd function. What the dealer charges is up to them though.

Dealer is charging me 900 installed for third function. I've done a little research online and that is a good deal. My dealer/salesman has been very good to me.

I'm also getting the bucket indicator and the fiberglass canopy top to keep the sun off me.

Get the worklights. That was one of my biggest regrets with the L3301. With the bucket in travel position you couldn't see **** at night.

Aside from the items you mentioned, you might want to consider adding the right side grab bar that does not come stock. It is an easy do it yourself install. Also if your dealer is charging you labor to install the bucket level indicator, it too is easy. I did both on my L3901.

I had the dealer add a few things including welding on a couple bucket hooks. Well worth having them do it, and they did so at no cost. Might be something for you to consider. Never know when they will come in handy.

Are you getting it with R1 or R4 tires?

R4. If he is charging me for the installs I don't expect it to be out of line.

Good tip on the grab bar, I may get that later

If you know the Kubota part numbers you can look them up in Messicks online parts catalog to get prices for the actual parts...but it wont include labor.

Also dont forget about things you need to service the tractor and common tools you will likely need around.

Grease gun, extra 3 pt pins, chain for pulling with that drawbar. if you are doing the 50 hr service...filters, fluids. Others here https://www.tractorbynet.com/forums...t-have-tools-equipment-new-3.html#post5223088

Not really going to break the bank but I would add a knob for the steering wheel. The Kubota one seams good quality other than the orange color faded. Probably only $25 but well worth it and maybe the dealer will throw it in for free.

I think you mean the draw bar that is attached to the frame and not the 3pt hitch? If you use the 3pt hitch to haul trailers, please read up on the hazards of this so you know what you are dealing with. All OEM's will tell you the safest way to haul anything is with the tractor draw bar attached to the frame. Get them to weld bucket hooks on for you, they come in very handy.

A lot of operators install trailer balls on other implements like box blades, carry all's etc... I have one on my boom pole which is the handiest...dedicated 3ph receiver hitches are quite popular but cost a bit more than a 3ph drawbar bracket...

If you're pulling stumps or yanking on other deadweight objects the tractor (not 3ph) drawbar is the ticket...as it is below the axle and can prevent flipping...on many CUTs, SCUTs it would be impractical to try to tow a trailer from the tractor drawbar...

I agree the 3pt hitch and ball has it's uses. Don't forget though there is no weight holding the 3pt hitch down if you are hauling a trailer. If the load shifts to the back, the 3pt hitch will raise, possible flipping the trailer. Never haul a wagon with people in it by the 3pth hitch because of this.

Ha, I mentioned this because I have heard of horror stories of people using tractors for hayrides around Halloween and accidents have happened.
