not sure how they rear diff is explained in that situation being that the ring gear throws the rear end fluid up and into the reservoir of the front pinion bearings. The outer wheel bearings would still be fed from the round tube that is hit with fluid also being flushed into them from the reindeer doing its thing. There's really no good reason that the rear diff would be bad unless the front end were jacked up so high that you filled the cover with grease and even then the ring gear would still be throwing it.

The reindeer should handle 75 mph with no problem. Santa travels much faster.

Towing with front wheels elevated might work for short distances - within a storage yard etc. My '99 Outback (A/T) has a fuse that can be pulled to disable the clutch pack engagement that normally occurs when the ABS system senses a difference in wheel rotation speed. Dunno if later models are wired this way. I assume with the key off, no power would go to the solenoid that sends hydraulic fluid to that clutch pack. Anybody know?

Whatever, not engaging that front-to-rear clutch pack isn't a solution for road towing!
Subaru's AWD fuse on an auto is for using the spare. Subaru used to suggest towing like that was ok, but revised it. Flat towing for manual only (all 4 rolling), automatic, all 4 off the ground if you go over 20 mph. That was 2009, maybe it's different again.

Agreed you won’t hurt the rear diff by pulling it. People pull driveshafts and pull with the rear diff on the ground all the time. I really don’t understand why you can’t leave the transmission in neutral and pull it but you can’t.

Because automatic transmissions are designed to drive the hydraulic (ATF) pump from the engine end not the output. No pump means no lubrication & bad things. AWD transfer cases have similar issues due to the funky clutch setups. You generally dont have issues with manual transmissions or basic manual transfer cases.

I can about guarentee that the rear dif will not be hurt being towed. We haul wood with ranger trailers and have never had a problem20190112_113116.jpeg

View attachment 595647As long as the patient is properly secured should be all set !
Note TBN sticker !
Hmmm, both the orange and blue straps go over the top of the patient and do not secure the patient from side to side motion. Better off with 4 tie points to 4 directions. :D
