We used to see a Hawaiian owl around at night, but not for a few years now. Often saw it perched on fence post along drive. One night coming home it flew right into the headlights and over the hood, quite impressive.

It's a rare sight around here in Winter, but some years we see Snowy Owls. They hunt 24/7 and sometimes will fly along a car's headlights at night looking for game. Impressive.

24 unexpected turkeys counted today. A lot more easy to count than all those active little Tweetie birds that look alike.

Just finished a little while ago going through a stack of 56 job applications, and ... oh, my ... now, there's a skill they obviously need to be teaching in high school; how to fill out a job application. Some scary, sad stuff in that pile.

There was a guy hired at the same time as me. It was Amoco oil. During our initial training (lots of book work) he quit. It was stange, no one quits working for Amoco oil. We found out he couldn't read. :confused3:

It’s a mess, nobody can spell, they don’t understand what is expected of them, they don’t know how to dress, be on time, properly address others. We learned the basics in school, not anymore.
The last application I read was after I closed my business and had come out of retirement to be the service manager at my best friends dealership.

The guy wrote a rambling comment that included he was an “ x-pert in steal break lines “ could do “ break jobs on n e thing “, I guess the word brake was just too daunting for him, and typing entire words was hard for him too.

Children are no longer learning the basics from their educational systems and many children are not learning social and cultural values from their parents and/or from within their families. Many young people do not know the value of work, but they definitely know the value of a pair of sneakers and other superficial junk.

What we are seeing is an empire starting to fail. Sadly, history seems to be repeating itself.
