Perhaps your washer is the problem. Too much smooth surface to skid around.

Try using JUST the bolt as it may “bite” better. Or go up a size or two in diameter.

Yep, most use just the end of the bolt (or the pointed end of the bolt) so that they will "dig in" and keep it from sliding around.

I use 2-1"x 4" bolt on each fork.

I bought swivel pads to put on the hold down bolts, they work really well.

handtools where did you purchase the swivel pads from? They appear to be well made. Do you have a link you could post?

TIA

In the photo they look like a 15/16” bolt head which would make them 5/8” D

Nope there 16/16" bolts, when I bought them I ran the threads up higher with 16/16" thread die. The bolts are going through doubled up truck spring.
Here's a picture of my homemade 16/16" wrench, made out of truck spring.

I think I would've put two of those clamps on each fork but seeing how those clamp pads are pushing $40.00/ea, I'd have one clamp with no pad and most important I'd have short pipes on top of each clamp bolt and run a bar though that like a regular C clamp. So on each fork, one clamp near cutting edge, and one clamp in the bucket.

You get 2 swivel pads for that price.

McMaster Carr has a good selection of those swivel pads, they also sell the replacement pads for c-clamps that snap onto the ball end.
