and found the same item with what looked like a copy and pasted item description direct from McMaster Carr, for 50 bucks a 10 foot length. Fifty bucks!

There've been a few things that Amazons prices are highly inflated over other sources,

That's some Goombah dropshipper scarfing their ad. You buy from them, they buy from the other site and have it shipped to you. The package comes from the same place you could have bought it for less from.

Alia176, go to 4wheel parts on Menaul in Albq. You can get a 13" LED bar from them for about $60. It's super bright. I have one on my Jeep, just above the winch in the picture. Well worth the price!

Oh, and I bought 2 of their 'cubes', put 2-30# magnets on the mounts, and use them on the ROPS on the tractor. Super easy to position on any angle or to the rear. If I hit a tree branch, they just move and don't break anything!

I have also heard that the LED cubes and short light bar are actually pretty good for the price. $25 for the cubes, either spot or flood. Not sure of the price on the bars. I have not personally looked at them yet.

Cubes? I'm on their website and not seeing these lights. I like the idea and may copy it.

You could check out an Amazon seller called Nilight. They have some great lights, I did find a couple flood light only choices by them. I have one of their combo flood/spot led bars and it's so bright, you really can't look at it. Good luck finding one that fits the bill

It seems like there must be about three companies making all these spotlights and bars and then one hundred other Chinese companies or vendors slap a different name on them and sell the exact same thing, for a wide range of prices. They look amazingly similar...
I've had good luck with LED lights from Amazon, floods in rear and that spot/flood combo in front. If you aim it down just slightly, that combo bar really lights up what is in front of the tractor. I think the spots have less light spillage too, but who knows how good the focusing pattern is.

There's more to a light than just the case and the bulb...but how do we know which one is better/best? They all are amazingly bright; we just aren't used to 4 to 6 thousand lumens from anything.

they're all Chinese crap
You may not like it but time to wake up and live in the real world. We have imported their low end merch forever since Dollar Generals seem insatiable, Harbor Freight, etc. But China has high end manufacturing too. Any of you have a Haier appliance?
My new Massey was built in a 1.5B Agco plant in China. It's not "crap". You just have to be an educated consumer and understand what you are buying.

BTW, I start out with Amazon and then google around trying to find alternatives. Sometimes my local Lowes has the same thing for less, but my local Lowes has such terrible employees and poor training that there is no one there to help you and I average three wrong locations when asking where stuff is. All that walking around on those rock hard concrete floors for a guy with severe arthritis. Just a miserable shopping experience. So yes I want to support my local business but do I want to support a poorly run business that frustrates me constantly? ??Why? Not when I can order with one click on Amazon. And.....I get 5 percent back off the item because I charge it to their no fee credit card and pay it off 100 percent each month. So...no finance charges, easy ordering, usually easy return and 5 percent back. Not too often that gets beat for value.

Yeah, I'd like to be the divorce attorney for the Bezos family. Bet whoever it is will retire after this...
Geez honey, is 35 Billion enough?
I'll throw in a new light bar too. :dance1:

You guys might be over thinking this.... Even these cheap Chinese LED's last long enough and kick out lots of light. We normally have three machines with them and they get used lots at night for 6 years, before there get replaced. Point being the lights get lots and lots of hours. The lights go with the machine when sold. In the past 10+ years I think I'd replaced one for a cracked lens. I'll attach some photos for proof of nothing!

I remember when these LED bars first came out. Two to three hundred dollars apiece in auto parts stores, now they are 35 bucks for a pair of small lights and maybe 70 for a bar. I wonder if I google US made LED light bar what I'd get.
Personally I'd like a light bar made by Leica or someone like that where you know they understand glass/lenses, etc. Think lighthouses, small light, super lens, big power. But there is nothing in the lit about lens quality, just how far they illuminate. Instead they brute power it with inexpensive high power CREE bulbs that really are amazingly bright. I haven't put lights yet on my new tractor, haven't had it out at night yet to see what factory light package provides. But once I read they were halogen...I mean that's just plain stupid to sell a brand new design tractor, and mine is, with less effective shorter lasting lights. Why weren't they LED from the factory? I kind of wonder what JD, etc is putting in their tractors now. My Kubota was all halogen. Is there some benefit to halogen we are all missing? They get hot, they use lots more juice and they aren't as powerful. Must still be a cost issue, saving a dollar or two. Maddening really, why not offer a good light option from the factory? Do the Asians not farm at night?

I have bright lights mostly for pulling cars out of ditches at night, rescuing a neighbor's stuck tractor, emergency stuff, but not night farming.
I even provided lights from my tractor while two guys were building my new little greenhouse that went on into the evening. Factory lights, particularly the fashion oriented headlights, are useless, often blocked by FEL. You really need more light up top.

Arly, I agree with you on cheap bright light, but I'm stumped.
What are you driving? What are you pulling? Way cool tracked vehicle.
Nice that snow reflects light.

Some of these super, super bright lights need to be carefully used and turned off, as mentioned before,
when traffic approaches on the road. You can blind the person coming and then they run into you. Not good.

to OP, sorry, this is not about flood lights, we sure get off track

I've used many ATV's and UTV's and sleds to groom ski trails with and we usually don't have to deal with other machines out there and that's what you see in these photos. High mounted LED's are by far, the most important lights we have on them. Having said that, same as you do with brights on your auto, you need to turn them off when meeting other machines. I believe all you'll see in these photos is spot lights.

Huuuummm, I'll add a few night operation photos and I'll show the light setup on one machine. The yellow in the first photo is the strobe firing.

I agree, but isn't that the case with most products? :) Years ago I worked in a Sherwin Williams distribution center and my job was keeping the line supplied with labels. We had at least a dozen different brand labels for every can that came off the shelf. I ordered some of the Nilights from Amazon also. A 21" s/f for front, a 13" (I think) s/f for rear, and a 4" flood for each side. They don't look that bright in the shop, but it'll probably be different once I get them out in the dark. I've only mounted them on a mounting plate for my ROPS so far, but they look pretty decent quality to me with everything you needed in the box. I ordered their wiring harness too along with a "Sasquatch Lights" rocker switch that I couldn't resist. :) I couldn't come close to the price of these even at Harbor Freight.

Ah, I agree with this too..... didn't finish reading your entire post. :) You want cheap, they'll make it cheap, you want quality, they'll do that, it'll just cost more. It's all about how much the contracting company wants to pay for quality control. 'Course, I don't know if that price covers the plans going out the back-door to the boot-leggers who'll be selling the same thing tomorrow.

That's what gets me..... what's the point of headlights at all if they're going to be blocked by your bucket? Redesign it on the loader arms or the ROPS or wherever, but come on..... how difficult is that? I guess it comes down to that additional 12 cents that's going to throw off the bottom-line for the investors.

I looked over their site. Remarkably inexpensive, most popular on Amazon.
When you get to the larger wattage bars, they don't quote lumens, which I find interesting.
When the price range is 25 to 75 bucks now, why not buy more light? Most tractor alternators put out way
more juice than we ever use. Particularly if you disconnect those halogens.

I used to try judge lights by the lumens but subsequently gave up. I don't think the guys in China list them honestly. After setting up my 6th machine to work at night, I now just buy the most powerful lights, that don't break the bank. Not the most costly lights by far! Each year since I started doing this some 12+ years ago, the LED lights have gotten better and brighter, each year. Like I said in my earlier post, we'd put thousands of hours on them in 6 years life of the machine and only had one fail. And trust me, these lights have gotten bright over the years. Even the 4 for $30 on Amazon are pretty darn good.

I put 4 cheep LED lights on my cabbed tractor. The light out put is excellent and they look good. The only problem I have is when I turn them on my radio fuzzes out so you get no reception. After researching my problem I discovered that some of the cheep LED lights send off enough RF frequency to interfere with radios. :confused2:
