Love it.....very innovative and useful.

Interesting. Beats Fords Man step or however they (GM) mocked it. lol

My GMC option sheet said I was supposed to have the easy whatever tailgate, but it seems normal and heavy to me and I wonder if someone switched it.

Should be perfect for the mall-crawlers & suburbanites.

I like the concept, but I keep my trucks too long and gadgets like that are prone to fail. I can't imagine using it once it's packed full, inside and out, with road brine and snow slush for 3 months a year. After about 4 years, it will be a mess. I'm sure it's tested, but I also wonder how it works after a few loads of mulch or 411 crushed stone.

Yeah, aside from the tuna fish can and cheesy plastic construction of my HD GMC, it has been a good truck. Just the Gimmicks are the first to fail. Nudge a snowbank and the "Park Assist" is History! So many guys have backed into something with the tailgate open. Costly enough, but this would make it extra special!

Finally! For everyone who can't park a full sized truck in your garage and have to settle for a short bed here is a solution. And More!

Anything other than an 8 foot bed is a short bed.

These new "trucks" are just oversized urban, yuppie-mobile, quad cab, 4x4, gas guzzlers with useless 4 foot boxes. And the SUV's are the spouse's soccer mom mini-van replacement. The 4x4 is required for when they drive over the street curbs because they don't know how to keep the vehicle in the lane.

I would hate to think about the price for that replacement part.
Yep, been driving pickup trucks since the late '70s and never damaged a single tailgate. If I were to damage one, that new one would be it. $$

I've been driving pickups for about the same length of time and can honestly say that I haven't damaged one since last year.
Carrying snowsleds with the tailgate down is hard on them in many ways, between the road salt and potholes tailgates really take a beating.

As far as the uselessness of a four foot bed. That at least has some utility over driving a sports car anywhere but on a race track if you ask me. I guess if you live in Germany, different story.

I often said if I ever even won a sports car the first thing I would do is sell for what ever I could get for it rather than drive it. ;)

Can I close it with the tractor loader without damage, can I back it into the corner of a dumpster without damage, can I lift the tractor off the ground with the loader pressing on the tailgate, can I drop a log on it? I already have a tailgate that does all that so no thanks.

It's amazing how people live in different worlds. I live in the country, drive a GMC 2500. I went to lunch with a customer in the City. I thought we were going to die in his Audi "A" something 3, 4 I don't know, don't care. .! No wonder people are so dam inpatient in the city, with my meandering driving style. I am not going fast to begin with and if I see a light change a thousand feet ahead, I'll start to coast.

When my son scraped the right side mirror off of my 2004 Tundra the new mirror assembly was about $200, not including installation. You mess that thing up, how much is it going to cost to replace?
I tend to use my truck to haul stuff, I don't go out of my way to damage it, but has collected a few dings over the years. It also about time to take the access panel off and clean and lubricate the latch mechanism, bet that not real easy on the new Sierra!

I hit the mirror on my truck on a tree. I took the mirror off and pressed it back straight and used a hardwood floor hammer to beat the door back straight. $0 repair cost. Then someone else hit the mirror on my suburban. A $30 junkyard mirror and an hour or so to swap the plastic cover so it’s the same color fixed it.

I'm sure you could not touch a remote, extending, heated, direction indicating mirror for a grand! Helll, the LED clearance LED light on my GMC is a hundred bucks! Failed under warranty and again out of.

It's all just for us suckers!

Right on all counts but especially the first sentence.

When shopping for trucks a few years back, I was annoyed that almost everything on the lot had that short 5.5' bed. I figured that maybe people bought them for towing, then noticed that most of them had no tow package and the wrong gearing to even be useful for towing. So I was left wondering who buys all those short bed trucks with pitiful tow ratings. I came to the conclusion most people are buying/using them as cars and want the short bed to fit in their garage. They sure ride comfortable, like an old body-on-frame full size car. Anyhow, I had to work hard to find something with a usable bed and tow package, which seemed opposite of my expectations for truck shopping.

A few months ago in an article with GM, they noted their customers did not consider towing or hauling as priorities when buying a truck, so GM planned to focus on other areas to advance their truck designs. This goes along with GMs ads for the past couple years featuring hipsters in many commercials.
