Here’s my delta 14” bandsaw. I bought this in a lot of tools I intended on flipping but from the first time I flipped it on I knew it was staying. Most people like to balance a nickel on the table. That’s a penny and the saw is running in the picture.

I have one of those old saws I bought used almost 40 years ago. I had a real hard time getting tires for it.

Great test and that is impressive!

And that’s with zero tuneups. No new tires. No balancing the wheels. No new belt. It did get a new blade after I hit a nail with the other one. I haven’t even bothered cleaning the rust off the table.

Thanks! I’ll keep that in mind. I finally did get a satisfactory tire. Haven’t used it that must in the last couple years though. It’s been a great saw.

That Delta 14” bandsaw is a workshop icon. Mine is exactly like the one pictured except I retro fitted it with Carter ball bearing guides and new tires several years ago.
My dad bought it brand new in 1946 making it 72 years old this year and yes, it will balance a penny.
Still has the original ‘Retirement Light’. I’m told the light itself is worth $80.00 alacart. Nope, it’s not for sale.

I took the light off mine because my shop is well lit and my eyesight at least up close is good. If anyone wants to give me $80 for it it would be theirs. Edit mine was not a factory delta lamp. I kinda assumed that by the color difference. It looks similar to this minus the crappy base. The second picture is apparently what a delta retirement lamp looks like. The end better part is depending on how you break it down I have between zero and 100 dollars in my Delta saw. I’ve got an 18” jet and the little delta is way smoother. In all fairness the jet blade speed is a lot faster. The 3rd picture is the same as my saw so I doubt it’s as old as yours. It is made in the USA so it’s probably 30 years old. I don’t think I’d trade my little delta saw for a Powermatic of the same size because there just isn’t much room for improvement.

This might not be what people think of as a tool. The utility people left this on my work site. It was an entire spindle of Mule Tape. The good stuff 1800Lbs rated. I tried to return it to the utility, and they said its okay, its yours. I have used this Mule Tape for 20 years off that same spindle. This is amazing stuff. It can lift my car with a single line and pulled many car out of a ditch with it. I have used this in so many ways; drag, lift, tie down, hold: I can make any knot I want and I can un-tie it. I have bought no rope after being given this.

This is my personal all time best tool. They are called Duckbill Pliers, and rather hard to come by these days. This is the single tool that has saved the day for me when nothing else worked.
