2006 CK20 HST / 2018CK3510SE Cab
I just purchased a new CK3510 CHSE cab tractor. There is no parking brake light when I set the brake. The dealer told me that it is not an option on this model. My 2006 CK20 HST has a parking brake light, and that is a bare-bones model. Are they feeding me a line of crap? Can I add a switch to the parking brake lever?

Welcome to TBN!

Your new CK is already the "loaded" model, so the dealer isn't feeding you a line.

I don't see why you couldn't jury-rig a parking brake switch. But curious why you need one? On mine, the tractor won't start if the brake is off, and won't move if the brake is on. :)

Really your tractor won’t start without the brake on? May want to get that checked..... clutch yes but brake should not matter when starting.

To the OP: I have a CK3510SE cab as well and that is one minor annoyance I have discovered. I really wish it had an idiot light for the parking brake just like every other vehicle on the planet nowadays.

Mine is the hydro model, like the OP's, so no clutch. The safety interlock is on the brake linkage. To start the engine, the brake pedal must be depressed, either momentarily with your foot, or in setting the parking brake. If the pedal is depressed enough to set the parking brake (assuming the linkage is properly adjusted), the hydro tractor won't move. On the shuttle-shift models, I can see how that may be different if you were already at high rpm and were to pop the clutch.

Interestingly, on the CK HST SE models, it is not necessary that the range selector also be in neutral, as is required on the NX hydro models. That's a bit more convenient for the operator, but has taken me a while to get used to, when I switch from one to the other. With my open-station CK, I will sometimes stand on the ground and reach in to start the tractor. Each time I do it, though, I make sure my foot is not directly in front of the rear tire. Just in case. :)

I'd be curious to know why Kioti has evidently not incorporated a range safety interlock for the CK HST SE series. Maybe it's because they figure the hydro models won't move anyway, so long as the brake pedal is depressed. But for that matter, neither will my NX.

I have a 2017 CK3510SE HST Cab.... maybe the model changed drastically from yours. But I have a clutch on the left that is required to be used to start the tractor and a brake on the right that is not required to start the tractor (that brake is in addition to the Hydro pedals)

No clutch on the new model. Tractor will start with transmission in N, or brake pedal depressed.
There is an empty harness plug under the dash right by the parking brake lever. Maybe the harness has the parking brake option. I will try jumping out today to see if the dash light comes on. My only complaint so far.
Thanks for the input.

Interesting. :scratchchin: Mine is a 2018; definitely has no clutch pedal. Just the brake pedal on the right side, adjacent to the two hydro pedals. Nothing on the left side.

I think Kioti may indeed have made some changes in the CK model offerings in last year or so. I do recall that Kioti offered a CK3510 SE shuttle shift model that was pretty slick. Actually saw one on the dealer's lot a few months ago. I may be remembering incorrectly, but I vaguely recall someone referring to a "hydro-shuttle" model. On your tractor, is the clutch pedal used only when you start the tractor? Perhaps to engage/disengage the PTO? My PTO is electronic, so no clutch involved there.

TaylorStove Guy, tell us more about your CK3510CHSE, if you don't mind. Now I'm even more curious.

While we're on the subject of dash lights on the CK models, I have a question about whether there is an indicator light that is supposed to illuminate when 4-wheel drive is engaged. On my model, there seems to be one on the instrument panel, but it does not illuminate. In the owners' manual, there is a corresponding symbol in the artwork of the instrument panel, but unlike the other symbols, it is not marked with any description, and there is no mention of it whatever in the text. Haven't had a chance to investigate this so far, but this is probably a good time to do it!

Yes used to start, engage disengage PTO (not electronic) as well as shift between H, M, L range for the HST.

My 2012 Bobcat CT235 has a parking brake light but doesn't have hydro range lights, although there are present in the dash, light accommodations with the corresponding symbols to indicate said ranges. They've simply not installed the lamps, wiring, and switches to provide this functionality. Perhaps your tractor is the same, in which case adding such circuitry might be an esthetically pleasing project. Cheers 🥂
