Good morning! 60˚ no wind but they say the Norther is heading this way and will probably hit during the the trail maintenance. It will be extremely windy this afternoon and in the 30s tonight.
wngsped, Whipper had no off leash time, we were in a nature preserve and I could not have her chasing wildlife. Both her and I were unfamiliar with the land since this was our first time on those trails There was a lot of coyote poop on the trail and these coyotes are used to people.

The rest of the trail maintenance crew will also have to cross that bridge today, I'm wondering if they will do it in their golf carts. It is receding some every day.

There was evidence of a bird kill in the front yard, this is the second time. Taking into account the wind and the feather pattern on the ground it was determined that the culprit was sitting on the top of a 30' streetlight devouring a smaller bird, most likely Mr. Owl, also high on the suspect list is Mr. Hawk.

For the record dancing Matilda is not a girl, and not a sheep - it is a swag.:D What is that I hear, typing fingers googling swag . . .

There are some homes around here that have electric gates to enter their property. Most of them are always open. :confused3:

I've had too many unwanted visitors to leave the gate open, Ron. The neighboring driveway on the cul-de-sac got a gate when they started growing marijuana, but for some reason it usually remains open.:confused2: That neighbor freaked out when I lined my driveway in the easement with boulders too big to drive over. Said it blocked his access to his land on the other side. I told him to let me know anytime he needed access and I'd open my gate for him. That was six years ago, and not a peep from him since. Drugs do terrible things to people...

Having a gate and not using it. Falls in the same category as having a Burglar Alarm and not setting anytime leaving the house. :confused3:

Weird weather we're having. 57 degrees for a low early this morning, going for a high of 61 with a 40-80% chance of rain today, 90% tonight, and 70% tapering off to 30% tomorrow. And at 7:10 a.m. just as I stepped out the front door, we had a tremendous flash of lightning followed by a very loud clap of thunder and sprinkles of rain. And then the wind and cold front is supposed to arrive, but stay just above freezing.

You made me look! The sheep was the story in our elementary school music book, but apparently there are several versions.

39°F and cloudy this morning, going up to 49° today, and expecting rain around noon for the rest of the day and into tomorrow.

Drugs do terrible things to people...

Yes, they do. Unfortunately, the people who most need to hear that are the ones least likely to listen to it.

It looks like a few of us are in the same boat. The low this morning so far is 1°. We had snow showers most of yesterday and a lot of wind. Not sure how much snow we got, a few inch at least. Today is going to be sunny and in the low 30's with less wind.

Didn't do much yesterday. Started sorting through coffee cans and ended up with three less cans. Only a dozen more to go.

Making a trip into town this morning.

Hope everyone has a nice day.
CWB.

Good Morning!!!! 42F @ 7:15AM. Sunny. High 56F. Winds light and variable.

Sounds like winter is early for many of you this year. Hope you're staying warm and all that snow is at least making an opportunity or two for play!

No bad news at the doctor yesterday, and even managed to get the pneumonia vaccine. No luck on the new shingles one; still on the waiting list at Costco.

Stihl store had correct gas cap in stock; young buck that sold me the wrong one got a dirty look from the old timer when he figured out what had happened.

On the way up my street I noticed many small piles of piled up logs, which I translated to firewood, put there by the crews cutting down fire damaged trees that might fall into the road. On my way home I stopped at several and loaded them into the truck, then went back out with the tractor to get more. Ran into my new neighbor, who I had followed out during the evac, and was told there were inmate firefighters working to save his trailers and buildings during the fire, so maybe there were some at my place, too. Brave men, even if they do have storied pasts. Anyway, made several trips and got about a quarter cord before it got too dark. Enjoyed a hum dinger of a sunset in the process!

Off to the Sacramento area today to get a new battery installed in the iPhone. The discounted offer ends this month, and that'll be good enough to get me another year until the phones with the new 5G radios are out. Not that there will be much 5G network by then, but a 4G phone will be worth next to nothing and I'm sure as heck not gonna spend $750 on one now just because my battery is tired.
