Ya' Know What Torques Me Off?

I just said to myself "thank you for the $100" and banked the money.

I do hope that you've documented your attempted communication(s) with them... whatever the 'statutes of limitation' are, I wouldn't be surprised at them trying to recover that $100 years 'down the track'. "Our records show that..."

(Hopefully I'm not telling you something you already know)

The truth be told, it wasn't mine to begin with and if they hadn't made it impossible to contact them I would have returned it. So if it comes back on me, I will just take the money out of the bank and return it to them.
I never claimed to be very smart.

Land line is sep. from internet.. cell service runs off a "booster" connected to internet.. no internet=no cell..
ya don't think I thought of that? {common sense}

So you have no cell phone service at your house (direct from a tower)?

I understand... it wouldn't surprise me that 'they' would tack on "interest accrued" for the time that you had their money.

Months after cancelling with (Explornet) my ISP, they charged my Credit Card almost 600 for their expensive cast aluminum radio. Many hours and phone calls later, no luck, just empty promises. Then I paid my New ISP to remove the old equipment from my tower as Expornet could not interest any of their dealers in that job, and those dealers would not return phone calls, mine or Explornet. FINALLY I got my money back and offered to drop the radio off at a dealer. No she said, just recycle it! Gotta love the stupidity and dysfunction.

The people were always really nice, but so, so glad to be rid of Exlornet, hopefully forever!

She comes home w a 5 gal can w/ a "bump out" on the bottom.!!! just some place to "pull up" or steady the can.. NO 2nd HANDLE..
I hit the roof.!!! a round trip to Wmart is 80 miles..

I agree. I had Explornet, and it was awful. Fortunately, a local guy on our lake set up his own network, and so many of us are now using that instead. Very reliable, and very effective. Also switched my phone to that guy’s network. Works great! And it is a lot cheaper than Bell.

She needs a hug and a "Well done, Sweetheart". Now let me tell you a little story. I was going to the grocery store, and the wife told me to get her some specific feminine products; she told me the brand, product size, color, package size and all the engineering specifications. At the store, I suddenly found myself in the requisite aisle, all alone with this vast array of alien items. In vain, I was searching the shelves, the products and trying to find the particular item I was sent for...when I noticed this rather tall, attractive and smiling woman peering at me around the corner of the aisle.

I tried to ignore her and act nonchalant, as if I knew what I was doing...but she wouldn't have it. She walked right up to me with a big grin on her face, and says: "Now you know how I feel when my husband sends me to the hardware store". We both had a big laugh.

GREAT STORY, Cruzer.!!! {& so true}

Car insurance is another one>> If you find yourself switching ins. companies.. WAIT a few weeks before cancelling your old one..
SO MANY STORIES about licenses getting suspended for not having insurance.. because the new co. didn't process the paperwork BEFORE your OLD insurance co. cancelled your policy..

I have stood in front of that very wall of feminine products you mention. I stared and scanned those products to find the exact thing I was requested to buy. Here is how I solved it. Got the wife on the smartphone, then turned on the two way video camera, and scanned it over the wall. Here sweety you can look over this wall. and tell me what to pick up. It worked. Might as well use some of those high tech features of the phone!

Love it! My experience was before I had a phone; besides the flip phone I have today, I only use one function: "Hello...conversation...good bye".

I expect there are more like us out there in that great feminine mystique!

It is a mystery. She had given me all of these parameters for the product, but there were SO MANY that seemed to fit that bill. I just didn't know what to pick, so hence the video camera on the smart phone to the rescue. I have used it in the supermarket for other items too when substitutions had to be made for something on the list. By the way the list is generated by her on my phone in a "note" program. Very easy to see and use and you can X out as you shop the items you have purchased. I am telling ya guys, these modern smartphones are the way to go for grocery shopping.

It gets worse... people are getting new policies... paying for them and then 4 to 6 weeks later receiving cancellation with return of premium...

Nothing to do with any sort of Fraud... mostly due to rural and semi-rural locations with trees...

My insurance of agent of 35 years is a good guy... never a claim and had all my property coverages...

Called him a few weeks ago about a new home... he took my information and then called my back saying there is NOTHING he can offer except California Fair Plan due to fire risk... this home is sprinklered, in the city limits and has a city fire hydrant out front... tile roof, concrete and stucco, etc... didn't matter as the area was Redlined... my words. No history of any fires and fire station 1/2 mile away...

It does torque me off... because two other agents that have wanted a shot at my business also said they can't write it either...

But, Costco Insurance said no problem as did AAA...

I do feel sorry for the small agents and independent brokers... they have to turn away customers and nothing they can do...

Expect as time goes on it will shake out the little guys across many sectors...

'Tube links.

That's my Torque point of the day.

I hate 'Tube links. I hate TV in general. I hate people trying to be TV Tim Taylors.

I want help pages in words and pictures. Ones that are 'to the point' and not self serving trying to rack up reference link clicks. Words and pictures take less time to post and don't eat bandwidth for people that seek information.

Depending on the topic, I appreciate videos. If I want to learn how to replace my brake pads and rotors, a video is worth a thousand words.

I particularly enjoy the "Eyehandy" videos... some of which I've watched several times just to, ahhh, make sure I understood all of the procedures!

(Yeah... the 'procedures'... that's the ticket! :rolleyes:)
