The sad reality... and I got a lot of crap that someone is going to have to deal with!

Hahahaha. Same here. I just hope I go before the Wife. Simply to much "Stuff" to deal with.

I have three teenage sons and their generation definitely has a different perspective on material possessions. The Internet has made acquiring things different -- no more going from store to store, studying the literature looking for the perfect choice, just order it on Amazon and it's here. For the most part, manufactured goods are far cheaper than they used to be. And the big one: their lives revolve around staring into glowing rectangles. Physical possessions aren't hard to come by, they aren't expensive, and they aren't valued. If you need something buy it, when you're done throw it away.

I can see some good to this and some bad. They'll grow up in a different world.

The shop in the place I bought was full to the ceiling in an organized way... the nephews have been clearing it now for 10 weeks... two 24' long enclosed trailers go out each week...

They are getting weary but the contract says they can call it quits at any time before 90 days and title to the contents passes to me... they even hired a safe cracker to open two safes... one had a lot of coins and the other was packed with ammo...

Two weeks remainiing... I think it will go to the wire.

I don't feel sorry for them... nice welders, power hacksaw, work benches... several beautiful vices... big ones... anvil... just about every kind of old school electronic test equipment... buffers, grinders, lathes, planers, shaper, etc...

Several times per year, late at night, I'll get a call from my youngest daughter. She'll ask something like, "Dad, do we have a router?" And I say yes. We have three routers. And then I'll hear her yell in the background "HA! I told you he'd have a router. He has three of them!" and I hear the guys groan and "No Way!"

Then she comes back on the phone and tells me "the guys" didn't think you'd have one of those. I ask if they need to borrow one, and they say no, they just were talking about them and they don't know anyone that has one, and I said I bet my dad does and they said no way, so I called you.........

Are you sure the were not talking about a network router? :stirthepot::stirthepot::stirthepot:

For the amount of money I’ve spent on tools to fix things maybe the “toss it out and buy another one” guy didn’t come out so bad. In either case I wouldn’t have it any other way.

Oh, I can go that route, too(pun intended). I've got 5-6 of those. And a couple/three servers. A dozen PCs. Some laptops.... I got it all!

Just don't route your router through your router. Though I guess you could route a picture of your router through your router.

Makes me think of that show Pickers, and the family has decided to start downsizing what they have and the guys spend all day going through all of it to find half a dozen things that they think are worth trying to resell in their stores. The rest of it is all junk. What's really amazing is how many places like this are out there!!!

I'm in the process of moving a bunch of stuff from the lean-to off of the side of my shop to a 40 foot sea container, and it gets more and more tempting to just through it all away. I'm not sure which is worse, creating a place to put it so I can find it, or if I really need to keep it.
