Looks like a low of 20° this morning. Today is going to be in the the mid 50's with sunny skies and a light breeze. The next few days are looking the same.

Made a road trip yesterday with one of the neighbors. We went down to SLC to get tracks put on his side by side for the winter. He also wanted to buy a tilt bed trailer to load his skid steer on. We also stopped at Cabela's to pick up a scope for his granddaughters rifle. And a stop for me at Rocky Mountain ATV to pick up a new windshield for my Polairs. And one more stop to get his side by side back. And also a lunch stop and a dinner stop. We made the round trip in just over12 hours and about 400+ miles. It made for along day.

I'll see if I can get that windshield in the Polairs to day. We also have a neighborhood pie party to go to tonight. Looking forward to that.

I have to get letters from my doctors saying I don’t have rheumatoid arthritis or COPD because I take 5 mg of prednisone daily to avoid stiffness from osteoarthritis because I can’t take NSAIDS, or my Medicare policy will be denied. Always something.

You can make appointments, at our local SS office. You walk in, stick out your tongue at the suckers who didn't make an appointment, get your name called. In / out in 15 minutes.

I've done it twice and they were right on time so ..... no time wasted.

Fertilizer numbers N-P-K.

Nitrogen - Phosphorus - Potash

For a Fall fertilizer you typically want a low nitrogen number as your not trying to promote above ground growth. You do want higher phosphorus and potash content to promote root hardening and growth.

This is what we've used here in Texas. The 8-12-16 in brown bag.



The red bag 15-5-10 is a fast release that we use for first spring treatment to get a quick green-up.

The rest of the year, right up until fall, we use a slow release 19-4-10.



The pre-emergent Barricade, is used in the spring and again in the fall.

At our Richmond house we have a service that does a machine core aeration and compost top dressing once a year.

I'm with you on "Weed n' Feed". Don't use it!

16°F and clear skies this morning, going up to 37° today. Forecast here is for big snow tonight. We seem to be in the 4-8" band, but the voice on the radio this morning said some areas in Illinois could get as much as 10". Either way, that's a lot of snow for November. We'll see if this one pans out.

Had a nice long conversation (albeit via text messaging) last night with my best friend. We haven't really chatted much lately, so it was kind of nice catching up on things. He is playing in a new Queensryche tribute band and their first show is this Saturday at a local concert venue. Meeting up with him this evening after work to get some comp tickets from him. He and the other guitar player in this band were the two guitar players in the acoustic trio I played with for about four years. In fact, there are three bands playing Saturday night, and I know or have played with pretty much all of the musicians. It's an interesting change. Back in the '80s, everyone was secret and protective about their bands and contacts. These days, everyone helps everyone else get gigs and everybody fills in with everyone else all the time. It's a giant musician community, like it always should have been. When I was playing with the Hagar tribute band, probably 25% of the crowd at our shows were other area musicians. Everyone goes out and supports everyone else.

L4N, we had to replace 25' of the drain from the kitchen sink a few years ago. Same thing, almost completely clogged with grease. My Wife could never convince her Grandmother to stop pouring grease in the sink. There was one section that was so packed it felt like it was as heavy as steel pipe instead of pvc.

I called the number...I had to listen to a 75 second recording of info before being allowed to take action...requires you to "tell it" what you want, so I said "make appointment" then "it" said...sorry no one available, goodbye" and hung up. Tried again later, after the same 75 second waste, tried to fake it out with another request but same result. I'll try again later. At least I had entertainment provided by a red fox out the window hunting the field.

Thanks for the reminder. We have a bunch of cinder blocks in a small ditch behind the barn that I need relocate. Probably going to have to wait until Spring, though.
