22 right now and going down to 21 for the high today. Wind NW 16 mph. 40% chance of flurries.

The Electric fuel pump is in and working. Now today is the kitchen gray water pipe.

re; license plate/validation sticker renewal, costs me $75.oo/ year and I get them on 2 year rotations. That is for generic off the shelf plates, which we own.
Down south they pay more but I don't know how much more.

I get to 'conserve energy' for the next 6 hours until junior gets his butt in gear. He doesn't know it yet, but he is doing all the work. I will help him carry the pipe out and put the new pipe in, but that will be the total of my involvement in the project.

Have a good day all

42 and rain going to 50. Maybe some snow mix Thursday. Yea!

LS, glad you rescued your daughter. With temps that low, could be a dangerous situation to be stranded so far from help. Nice snow.

RNG, hope you can go home soon, and find things okay.

Eric, why so expensive? Virginia DMV sells over 250 different style plates, all for a small extra fee, some of which gets donated to foundations, scholarships, etc. and that portion is tax deductible. Personalized plates are an additional fee, but not much. I don't have one but my wife does. What I also find interesting is that some states, like NC, only require one plate, on the rear of the vehicle, while others require both front and back...like Virginia.

Took Coco for a nice long hike in the battlefield forest yesterday. It seems like we get a second autumn leaf color season when the beech trees turn beautiful yellow and copper and light green. Then did some caulking and raked leaves away from the obstacles like tree trunks and outdoor chairs before I mowed/mulched them. Started raining while I was mowing, but that helped keep the dust away.

good morning all.
A wet and warm morning, 63 out, Accuwrong says 2.36 inches overnight, that means about 3 inches will be in the glass rain gauge. (udometer ;))
A break in the rain this morning, then it comes back in this afternoon, but not much. We often get ten times what they predict, makes planning a little chancy. That much rain last night should have just gotten sucked up, will be interesting to see how it affects the cotton farmers who are out harvesting their fields now. One of the prettiest times of the year, a field of white. And then lots of little white fuzzballs along the road, for once not chucked out of cars. There is a special cotton picker which looks like a smaller combine, but new they are many hundreds of thousands of dollars, so you see some old stuff out there. They pack them in giant white rectangular bales, put a tarp over them, and then when all done pick them all up. That part I haven't seen, wondering what picks up those very large heavy bales.

Just finished putting chocolate icing on a triple layer chocolate cake I made for the volunteers at the food pantry; it's Tuesday morning and I'm headed there first with some vegetables I bought at Food Lion and a big cake. Always hard to transport something like that, disaster at ever turn, visions of layers just sliding off...which is why it's in the refrigerator now getting as stiff as possible. I put these cakes on oversized plates and say a gentle prayer...Between the cake mix and the chocolate icing, this cake is about the most unhealthy thing one could eat. All chemicals and sugar. But I've learned, repeatedly....don't go bringing apples and oranges, no one wants that...bring the chocolate.

I personally can't eat much icing, leave it all on the plate. While I'm sure one could make healthy icing, what comes out of that can
is an exercise in the finest food engineering through chemistry. When the chemical name is so long on the ingredient list you can't pronounce it, sort of a red flag for healthiness.

which reminds me that the icing on my day's cake is actually later when I go to the dealership to see my new tractor for the first time. :dance1:
It came off another dealer's lot and I need to be sure it has all the build features I asked for.

RNG, stop jinxxing the stock market. I'm getting crushed here.

30 degrees this morning, going for a high of 39 with 24 forecast for tonight. Looks like we're going to have a colder than normal winter this year.

LS, glad to hear that you rescued your daughter. Things can do downhill in a hurry in that kind of weather.

I just got off the phone with FedEx again. Last week I ordered some MagniLife from Walmart that my wife and daughter say is really good, but I couldn't find it in the stores here. So the Walmart AND FedEx websites both showed it would be delivered yesterday. It was not delivered. And this morning, the FedEx website showed it to not even be scheduled for delivery. So I called and their automated system told me it would be left at ????? some place I didn't understand for me to pick it up. I kept trying until I finally got a human on the phone and he said he would change that and it will be delivered to the house today. I sure hate to have to deal with FedEx even more than UPS.

Coffee has finished brewing. 28° with cloudy skies this morning. Heading to 32° with cloudy skies. Got a little over 2" of snow overnight. But it melted on hard surfaces. No need for the tractor. Did not get home from picking up cousin at airport until after 11pm. Snow was coming down so heavy it made seeing the road difficult. Take wife to doctor today. NO other plans for the day.

Drew, when I was younger cake was my thing. Now it's pie. Got any of that apple pie left? :D

Looking, good luck with drain fix.

Buppies, Thomas, deer were out along local roads last evening. Managed to miss all that thought it would be a good idea stop in road to see what them bright lights were shining on them.

Eric, we can get personalized license plates here. $30 for first year. Then $15 for each year renewal. May take a while to find one that will say what you want and is accepted.

Prayers for all.

Good Morning All.

FedEx does not deliver to residential homes on Mondays here in Michigan. My problems are with Amazon Delivery. Since they opened a delivery depot on the eastside of Metro Detroit. All kinds of missed deliveries. I think FedEx and Amazon hire people that cannot read. :confused2:

Good morning! First freeze of the season at 32˚,windy and cloudy heading to the 40s.

Eric no personal plates here also too cheap. I'm not quite as bad/good as my dad who had one farm exempt ($5) trailer plate for two trailers and just moved the plate to the trailer he was using on road. Even after he died I was trying to figure out which trailer the plate belonged to and could not.

The Girls are coming to town to play cards with my wife. That means I'll have to find a project outside the house for a few hours while they party. Guess I'll hit the pool and Home Depot.

LS good rescue, good dad. Does your daughter have a 3 hour drive to work every day?

Bird, Fedex lost my package for 2 days last week and the last tracking they had was on my porch - NOT. Finally someone that did received it put it on my porch. Customer service was a dead end, all they did was call the sub-station and left a message but got no call back. They said I had to wait 72 hours and then let the sender know.

FedEx does not deliver to residential homes on Mondays here in Michigan.

I was surprised when both Walmart and FedEx website showed it would be delivered Monday, since Monday was a holiday. I don't know whether they delivered anything elsewhere or not.

Don, I hate to order anything anymore because of the poor service. The USPS lost the business to UPS and FedEx because of poor service and now those two are as bad as the USPS ever was; maybe worse.

Bird, last week I was told that Fedex "home delivery" does not deliver on Sunday or Monday.

Since my package was delivered supposedly on a Friday 72 hours excluding Sunday and Monday would be the next Thursday before I could expect to hear anything on a 2 day express delivery.

I also got different information from each person I talked to. One even said they have my package and it would be delivered Monday, when I ask who found it and what time it was found I was transferred to another person who said they have no idea where my package is.

64 early, down to 61 now, should be down in the forties by nightfall. .74” of rain since sunset yesterday.
Got ribs in the slow cooker with a bunch of small potatoes all seasoned with some sort of Mexican seasoning and robust Italian dressing. Smells good, we will see how it tastes. Have a good day guys, God bless.

Don, you should find out which houses in your area that have same house number as you.

Both USPS and Fedex have delivered our mail and boxes to a wrong house down the road with one digit different. We get their mail, sometimes, too (but nothing interesting :) )

   / Good morning!!!! #84,335
Don, that sounds about right for FedEx. They very likely don't deliver here on Mondays either, but the website originally showed it would be delivered on the 12th. FedEx also delivers my wife's monthly medications coming from Tennesse with a big bright red label to "refrigerate on arrival" and the cost is more then $800. The FedEx driver just drops it by the door, doesn't even ring the doorbell, and runs for the truck. But since I talked to them this morning, their website shows this new order that cost less than $42 is now on the truck for delivery and a signature is required. Of course requiring a signature is just fine with me; in fact, I wish they did every time on everything.

Good Morning!!!! 47F @ 8:00AM here in Chico, CA. Cloudy early with peeks of sunshine expected late. Areas of smoke and haze are possible, reducing visibility at times. High 66F. Winds light and variable.

You all think delivery service is bad now? Wait 'till Black Friday when all the temporary helpers are on the job and the delivery network is flooded with goods. Better get used to it: the holidaze will keep it that way until into New Years!

That could have turned out very badly, Ted. Time to have a talk with that daughter, and make sure she has what she needs to spend a night or two in that Jeep without freezing to death or being taken advantage of.

I have one set of "vanity" plates; Kalifornia is very good at establishing predatory rates for any service it thinks people would be willing to pay for. But the weather sure is nice here, at least when the air isn't filled with smoke.

Not much news on the Camp Fire, other than it's now at 125,000 acres and 30% containment. 42 confirmed fatalities, 6522 homes destroyed. It's now the most destructive wildfire in California history. Fire intensity has dropped considerably in the area near my home, but no sign they'll be lifting the evacuation orders anytime soon. Fingers crossed though.

About 10 a.m. a FedEx truck went by, but didn't even slow down so I have no idea whether that was the truck that is "supposed" to have my shipment.

Had a great weekend, I forced myself not to look at any work emails, and when I had many coming in on Monday, I put auto reply up that said I would not be checking until I returned today.

Got the oil changed in Tahoe, cat door installed in garage wall (it had one that was broken many cats ago and then blocked off). New one was slightly larger so required some cutting.

Shot a few rounds with AR, wife even shot some. Wife found a tailgate for 73 pickup on FB Marketplace, went to contact seller Saturday morning and price had dropped in half.. Wrong color, but good shape with all the trim intact. Then some Costco shopping (wife needs new computer, wants laptop or tablet).. planning on buying something with black Friday sales, should be able to get something that fits her needs reasonably priced.

Prayers for those needing them (RNG and Larro, extras sent your way)..
