Harbor Freight Tools that don't suck

Anyone seen the new 'Quinn' brand sockets? 10 piece, 1/4in and 3/8in drive SAE and metric for $5.99 and $8.99 per set w/coupon. Wow! Might have to grab some of these for xmas presents and extra tool boxes.

I've usually seen HF brag that they are opening on average 3 stores daily nationwide. When I was at my store a few days ago, the sign I saw said 'opening 2 stores daily ...'. So, either they're slowing down for some reason, or they're already everywhere and there isn't much room for as many new stores.

It’s not really a serious idea because I don’t want to be back in the retail business but I’ve joked about opening a HF. I live in a large small town full of rednecks with no HF for 40 miles. Every time I go in that store in a less redneck area it’s always busy.

I thought about it too. We are 35mi from the closest. Our area seems ripe for one, but dealing with all the BS with returns, theft, etc. would get old real fast if I was running it. HF seems to have their system down pretty well pat. Give them credit there!

I wonder if there is any money in opening a HF store. Or is Smidt (owner) like Bezos of Amazon - where all the wealth accumulates upward.

The 4 HF stores I am familiar with are staffed with people who seem hurried and not enjoying the experience.

The employees at the HF store I frequent in Tacoma are all friendly, helpful, and most I recognize being there for a long time. Maybe a function of store management... this is my guess.

I'm looking at buying a 72" tool box base and a 54"-60" upper box. The 72" base is $150 less at RK than HF on coupon. So $849 every day, normal price, just because they love me that stinking much.

PS; RK has the 4 drawer roller chest for $99, every dang day and twice on Sundays. The only thing different that I see is that the RK version doesn't have the pistons lifting the lid, you lift and it has an old school prop hinge.

RK has Fluid Film. (Mic drop)

We have Tractor Supply, but no Rural King or Northern Tool near here. I think it's reasonable to mention any of these when they offer something that is similar but better than HF's equivalent product when they are in the same price range.
