2210d for $1000....what do you think?

I found a 2210d for sale in my area. Its listed as in fair condition. I've message the seller with a bunch of questions since his post wasnt detailed. He just has "it needs woork, hydraulic pump is out". It looks all original, paint faded and not like the refurbished ones you see trying to pass off as nearly new. From reading up here and at hoye, it's obvious that the 2210d is a highly regarded tractor, rightfully so. And obviously I'd need to go look it over thoroughly. But how many more things wrong will it take before it is a bad deal? Oh and it looks like it has the brackets for a front loader, but doesn't have a front loader in the pic...definitely one of my questions I asked.*

If all it needs is a hydraulic pump , it is a good deal. I can supplya hydraulic pump. new or used.

don't know your abilities. But i would buy it for $1000 if it was me. The pump usually does not go out , so we have been told by so many folks on hear including dealers. But they do go out, they just are not worked that hard, the pumps that is, to wear out, esp on a tractor that does not have a loader.

Make sure that its not the small pump that powers the clutches or what ever in on that tractor to make the transmission work as that is more detailed and far less knowledge will be avialible for that and not sure what internal trans parts may or may not be available.

Edit: now that i zoomed in on the pic i see a loader frame. THey may have just disconnected the loader lines and not looped them and deadheaded the pump to shear it off. This would make more sense than it wearing out, but again its a mechanical part and can fail.

i also think the front tires are reversed to get the width wider, they should be the other way that puts excess strain on the steering joints and bearings up there

that's a good price on that one Winston. that is a recon but looks like it has been worked long enough to be proven. The loader arm say RCO on it.

I had a customer bring me a tractor that the JD dealer had for a month & couldn't figure out why it didn't pump any oil. When I saw they had dead headed the hydraulic line, the light bulb flashed. Broken key! We didn't even bother to unload the tractor from the trailer.

There are so many people replying on the Yanmar message board with the answers that people need that I usually don't get on very often. I have lost my good opinion of Yanmar, because of the way they treat their YM tractor parts dealers. First they took away their tractors. Now they are doing it with OEM parts.

And a related question - did the dealers for modern Yanmars ever have parts manuals and access for YM parts?

I think this does not apply to Hoye. I believe they were one of just a few places named by name that are allowed to still deal in them.

I thought their OEM parts were mostly dealer closeout inventories. TractorErnie mentioned he shipped them a truckload. Maybe that was parts tractors but I thought parts too.

There must be some. I bought a clutch safety switch from Leonard. The rubber accordion collapsed, tore, in the first week. He wouldn't replace it. "Electrical parts".

I'm sure there are some. Just not a lot. Like trying to buy OEM for a 35 yr old vehicle. You'll find some parts, but not many.
I was able to purchase an OEM fuel tank cap with gauge from someone several yrs back.

The seat I just bought is most likely an aftermarket

That's funny right there. All the yanmar tractor dealers around here aren't really dealers at all.
The so called yanmar tractor dealer closest to me had new yanmar tractors about 6 months ago. Their main line were Zero turn mowers as tractors as a side line.

I stopped in looking at the 59 hp tractor. I asked the sells guy if they could add a 3rd function valve for a grapple ? He looked at me as if I were nuts, and said ''if you tell me what a grapple is, I might be able to answer your question''.

If you are selling tractors and don't know what a grapple is, you night not need to sell tractors !
Stick to selling Z turn mowers !
I left and bought a Kubota.

I went back to this same lawn mower shop the other day to purchase a belt for my Z turn mower. There were no more New yanmar tractors. I asked what happened, and the guy behind the counter (different guy) said they weren't selling so yanmar took them back. He indicated that they may start trying to sell them again sometime soon.

I have seen other places around me that have always sole ATV's. They are now carrying New yanmar tractors as their 2nd line.

Until yanmar can set up a ''true'' dealer network, I don't they will have much success selling tractors around here

When 'new' Yanmar arrived I looked on their dealer locator and found one in Santa Rosa, the small city that is the natural center for anything ag in the region north of San Francisco. So I drove by. A small shack, with signs for saw sharpening and keys made. No signs of life, no motor vehicles or ag stuff anywhere in the modest parking lot.

I just now looked on Google street view. The couple of listed Yanmar Ag dealers in a 100 mile radius of Santa Rosa don't have any stock of Yanmar tractors, one has a couple of green apparent trade-ins among the four tractors on his small lot and the other places seem to be only rental equipment yards.

I hope Yanmar Ag USA makes it but I didn't find any signs of life around here.

The thing is, If one were to purchase one of these tractors ,Who works on the tractor when an issue arises, someone that doesn't even know what a grapple, or 3rd function valve is ? Or, do you call tech support and make repairs yourself ?

When I checked on the tractors, they weren't any cheaper than any other brand with a dealer network, mechanics, etc,.
I'm not going to pay top dollar for a tractor with no dealer network.

No way I see them making it in the tractor business here, unless they change they way they operate

That's the truth, and I think most people fell the same is why there not selling. No one buys a new tractor form the guy who sells lawnmowers as a main line without a full shop.
