Just reported that Burt Reynold passed away today at age 82. RIP Bandit!

Day started in high 30s, expected to be in 70s today with smoke returning. I have to remember to take the faucet timers off and manually water now (freeze can happen any day now and the timers are sensitive to freezing). I want to spray some weeds one more time before I winterize sprayer. I still need to tear out old deck and replace.. I'm too cheap to hire someone so will get it done myself (with help from wife).. not very big (16'x24') and not very high (less than 24" from ground).

Wife and I haven't been to Hawaii. Been strongly considering this.

It's the only state I've never visited, and in spite of hearing great things about it from other family members, I reckon I'll not ever get there.

But it could be.

Time to renew my open invitation to my TBN family...
I surprised my wife with a maui trip for our 15th anniv. All i told her was we are going to the beach. I couldnt hide it from her in the airport.

Had a little party for the boy. He moved in with us 11 years ago today. Got him a cake and a couple presents. He is a happy boy, cake does that. :)

PJ, happy late anniversary. I agree someone should get people to be nice all across the country. Ed

nope, it's me. I'm taking a very fast ship through the Panama Canal and should be on the Big Island by dinner time.
My latest sci fi novel taught me how to make warp drive at home...;) just carry it around like a portable hotspot
Got to make David's latest buffet!

Showered and in for afternoon, 94 out, painted mailbox post plus a few other wooden fence posts, mowed a little, then powerwashed the mower which really needed it, kinda went aahhhh when I put it back under the shed all shiny and clean

Mostly, are you getting out on your boat? Any fish stories? Like the one that dragged your boat across the lake?
That's always a good one...:D

I suspected you had something to allow you to get all that work done. Does it take you back in time so you can help yourself ? :)

Not what I call postcard Hawaii, but I’d strongly recommend the Big Island if even just part of your trip. We are on the Hamakua coast.
Just PM me when ready.

And a belated Happy Anniversary

No buffet today Drew. Just going to light off the Primo and grill some burgers and dogs - Simple!
Of course should you bring some of your bounty just think of the possibilities.

My family (wife and I, then when we had kids, them too) went to Kauai a number of times. The first time we went there, there was a traffic light or two and we had a blast, seeing all the sites, many of them multiple times. We had a week time share, then added a week, then after a the hurricanes, had to sell as the maintenance fees were just too high for a struggling family.

We went again with a group from church in 2013, my oh my how things have changed, lots of traffic lights, lots of traffic, lots of people (compared to first trip). We stayed on beach north of airport at Kapaa and drove daily to Poipu beach on south shore to spend the day snorkeling and relaxing on beach.. We went back by ourselves in 2016 and spent most of our time at Poipu beach again, stayed in Kapaa again (reasonably priced rental (time share converted to rental) called Islander). I would go every year if I could afford it.

I highly recommend Hawaii for special occasions, including vacations. It has something for everyone, we (as noted above), just like to relax on the beach. The last time, a large turtle (3-4 feet across) swam up beside my wife as she was snorkeling. Experience of a lifetime..

Never been Kauai yet,Maui once back in the 90’s, used to live Oahu, 77-81 so except plane change, 5 years ago for Sophie’s birthday. We think it’s very special here.
Our TBN GM family is welcome to stay with us during your BI visit. No frills and just might tap into your knowledge. Might even let you mow

Well, now that you mention it, what does this little blinking button do?

Good evening all. 76F for the start, mostly cloudy, calm wind. Light wind with moderate gust, sky clear off this morning then clouded back up and thunder this afternoon. 1 inch in the rain gauge from yesterday and last night, several more days of rain chances till the cold front comes through. OMO golf this morning, lunch then nap. Walked the dog, went smoother tonight.
Don, most people here near the golf course have gutter covers of some sort. I have the open mesh style.
Eric rear cassette and chain have less than 100 miles. 8K miles on the bike, little early for the big chain ring, but I bent the rear derailleur hanger a while back.
RNG, we do listen to your posts, Especially the one when you have the smog test passed. :drink:
Happy belated anniversary PJ, good luck finishing your deck.
Drew, don't know how to run live wells yet, schedule and weather (heat, wind, rain have slowed things down a bit). When I do get more experience, wind will play less a factor.
Randy good to hear things are improving so quick.
Have been to Oahu, Maui, Kauai and the Big Island (Kona Coast)Should we get back to Hawaii, would love to help you mow, David. Haven't got much seat time lately :D
Prayers for all.

I had the same thing a few years ago and after the eye doctor checked me, she said it was a normal part of aging. I hope yours is okay.

I didn't know about this before wng. It seems that you and me are in the 25% of the population who become visually aware that something changes inside the eyes of almost everyone who has made sixty some trips round the sun.

The light flashes are caused each time a bit of the gel at the back of the eye detaches itself from the retina. In my case, all the debris from this is accumulating in a pool at the bottom of my eye, having a slight effect on my vision. I was told in no uncertain terms to keep my head steady and not to lift anything heavy for the next week or so until this process is over, otherwise it increases the chance of the retina coming away too. Looks like the tractor will be getting an unexpected rest for a while.

Good morning. The sun is shining and with the ground finally getting a good soaking this week, the grass is back to growing at a more normal pace. Maybe this plus the introduction of a couple of teaser tups will keep the sheep happier and not trying quite so hard to get to where they shouldn't be. A couple of exceptional jumpers this year have been clearing internal fences with ease and then casually hoping back whenever they see me coming.

Time to renew my open invitation to my TBN family...

Alas I won't be making that trip, but I'm sure we all appreciate sharing a little of your daily life on the Big Island each morning here on TBN.

Good morning all, 67 going to 86 with a 30-60% chance of heavy rain. We are under a flash flood watch until 11pm. Glad we live on a hill. Dentist trip-visit went well, get a crown the 26 th. No charge for this visit, I love country Doc's. Plan to get a little done in the shop today, will see.

Eric, Yep, enjoy seeing a little of all of your lives, in many ways the same but vastly different.

Roy, enjoy some of Dell's gospel, the man can sing and the hole group has a lot of talent.

Have a great day, prayers sent. Ed

69 going to 90, probably rain tonight.

David, you have a beautiful place and your invitation is very kind. Hopefully one day we will visit. How is the volcano doing? I love them (I prefer dormant ones, though :)).

Roy we listen to Del a lot. Hope the concert was great.

Eric, take care of that eye. Randy, you, too.

I think we will go to the Hatch Chile festival at Wegman's today...roasters in the parking lot, and lots of fresh chiles and prepared foods made with them.
