There is a seal kit, JD part # AT26188 listed for that column.

And you can go to jdparts under model 2150 to check out the parts in that column..

Yes there's a seal below steering wheel but replacing that seal may or may not stop leak.Seal part number is T22260

Every seal in it will need to be replaced if he has a chance of stopping the leak. I tried replacing just the six o-rings in the top side and it lasted all of 1 day. Had to get another kit and completely disassemble the thing. There's a video on YouTube of a guy removing one and rebuilding it. He needs to watch it. It's not an easy job.

One doesn't have to remove valve housing from tractor similar to U-tube video to install seals. Remove steering wheel then remove large nut then set steering wheel back on shaft, turn steering wheel CCW& shaft with valves will come out of housing. Then the 6 large o-rings can be replaced being careful to get o-rings in proper locations. If valves & other components are removed from shaft be sure & document proper location of shims & valve bodies.

Thanks for the useful post. I hope I never have to do this repair

DISCLAIMER: the six o-rings can be replaced as described above BUT replacing them isn't an easy task!!
