When we bought our current home 12 years ago, I was a bit surprised to hear a rooster crowing south of us every morning. And it wasn't long before 2 little girls, probably under 10 years of age, came ringing the doorbell one day asking for signatures on a petition to allow them to keep their rooster. This town still has some "country?" places, cattle, horses, goats, etc. But there's also a city ordinance prohibiting roosters; hens are OK, but not a crowing rooster. Anyway, I never heard the rooster again. Personally, I kind of liked hearing the rooster crow; I grew up with that sound, but I guess I can understand some people not liking it.
I am with you on a rooster crowing in the morning. But then I am always up at sun up. 2 of my neighbors had them. Skunks killed all of them at one place. Other one moved and took his chickens and horse with him. People that bought place have torn down all the out buildings. Don't think they will have animals again.
Like to hear the 6:00 am train blow it's whistle every morning. It's about 2 miles away. There is a subdivision at the crossing where whistle blows. :confused3:
