Succotash one of the food staples I was told. Baby Lima’s are my favorite but the way I like it is on no no list for me

Maybe it's a New England thing but I grew up with succotash, and the school lunch program often served succotash.
I'm a Fordhook man, hard to find the big ones, seems to be the opposite marketing compared to my red potatoes.
The small red potatoes are marketed as "gourmet" for forty cents more per pound. Small lima beans though are much less expensive than Fordhook/full size lima beans, so I'm guessing in the lima bean sorting there must be more smalls than larges.

I have two King Of The Garden lima bean plants growing plus lots of Calico beans. I'm told there is no taste difference, will see.

My plans for today got revised after a luncheon date arrived so I have to stay clean this morning. My older friend is working hard to find me a nice lady, and if I need to drive "Miss Daisy" to a few luncheons, a fine investment of time plus this lady is fun to be with. And since she will never read this, I can say gently that with age comes rigidity and it's really clear that by age 87 she wants everything to go just so.... I'm taking her some cukes and tomatoes for her lunch sandwiches and I think she will be delighted.
The garden will be there when I get back, though more thunderstorms possible today.

Mostly, very exciting! I have visions of you putting water skis on your favorite bike and getting pulled behind your new boat. :D
Don't forget to get some roses for your wife for that excellent truck suggestion too.

73 going up to low 90's again, heat returns.

poured first cup of coffee. 66° with cloudy skies this morning. Heading to 86° with mostly sunny skies. PT went well yesterday. Evaluation visit came up with muscle/nerve problems in neck cause my pain and strength loose in arm. Got yesterdays projects competed in between pain drops. .7" of rain. My try at reading radar was a failure. All I have on list today is cut lawn.

Don I did the insulation panels on my garage doors. Did it the same way as ED. Later I replaced them with insulated doors. Much better.

Eric, glad you got the hay in.

Mostly, new boat and truck. She's a keeper.

Drew, :cool2:

Prayers for all those in need.

Good Morning All.

Succotash is pretty common everywhere I’ve lived from Carolina to California. I do prefer the Fordhooks, but like them all.
Ate bean sandwiches as a kid much to the dismay of dad. One slice, dump the beans of choice on, fold and eat.

About 90 today, 95 all weekend, gonna be a hot car show.

My garage faces west and I’ve been talking about foaming the doors for nearly 5 years.

I have the grandson two more days. I’m keeping him busy.

Don, I just bought the foil backed 4 x 8 sheets of foil backed foam. The foil raises the r factor a bit and with foil tape to seal the edges I think it will look a little batter even if it has words on it. Got a can of foam as well just in case.

Ed, now that you are proficient in digital photography could you post a pick when you install it? I need to get a thermometer but I think my garage gets up to 110˚ by late afternoon.

Don, The foam I am using is Polypro from lowes. Foil on one side and plastic on the other. Tough stuff for foam. The kits assume all of the panels are the same size and mine are ALL different so you end up cutting anyway. I am using 1" and it is R6.65 so not bad and the 1 1/2" would be harder to fit in the panels. imho. I have done 99% of the door sense my last post and I looked at the news and a video or two. Not a bad job at all. Just need to piece around a couple more windows. Ed

At my last house we had to replace the garage doors and wow what a difference the insulated doors made, both for heat and noise.
When I moved here the original doors were in bad shape and I replaced them with insulated doors again.
To me well worth the investment, and a good project for upgrading.
Ed, spray adhesive to attach?

An inexpensive IR heat gun from HF is a handy tool, shows you where the hot and cold are.

Don, I may be having a senior moment but was Super Star Member always underlined or is that a new thing?
(wow, this is weird, now it's back to normal. Hmmmmmm.) I'm no IT guy but something just hiccuped.

Frankly the pretentious labels are a bit much. I'd rather just be a Member.
Join date and post count seems sensible. And of course the tractors.
But this is nitpicking in a land of plenty.

I can only wonder how much disk space the 2,259 pictures I have posted take up.
Just hope they won't wind up on the web's proverbial gas station bathroom wall......

digital photography makes so much of this possible. I can't wait for Cat Fever's or CWB's next picture
of mountains in the background. Or Roy's attack on snow drifts.
And now that Whipper isn't fighting snakes any more, what a brave dog, he can ponder
the best doggie golf clubs he's going to hit up Don for. Or maybe his own golf cart. Can you imagine...

<snip> I need to get a thermometer but I think my garage gets up to 110˚ by late afternoon.
Do you want a thermometer you can read across the room?
How important are:
Accuracy?
Cost?
Reliability?

I went through that last year for a "large outdoor thermometer"
and found almost all the inexpensive large thermometers were not accurate.
Well I gave up on trying to find an accurate ~12" thermometer. All the reviews indicated most had inaccuracies. So I just lined up a bunch of Acurites at Walmart and picked 2 that had the same temp and matched their little $1.50 "alcohol" thermometers (which all read the same), plus I bought one of the alcohol thermometers. The ones I lined up varied by 6 degrees.

Checking with other thermometers they seem to be spot on. I expect the alcohol thermometers will be accurate for their lifetime. But they are too small to put 20 feet away and read. So for the extra $1.50 I can check them easily when in doubt.
note
The ones I lined up varied by 6 degrees.
refers to the 12" ers.
