Tractor
MF 231S
I have MF 231S with FEL. The hydraulic pump that operate the FEL just stop working, Pump is located in front of tractor as noted in picture. Pump has a shaft that goes into something I guess that turns with the crankcase. With the motor off, I can turn the shaft freely with out any problem which mean something have happen inside that area. Have anyone have this problem if so what is the process of fixing this issue. Thanks in advance

The other end is bolted to the crankshaft , should have a small u joint on it

Okay Thanks but what all do I have to remove to get to it like radiator.

Can you look down from the top or side to see the front of the engine

From the side all i can see is the fan belts and bottom where crankcase and shaft is under radiator and more stuff.

Did you look at the picture its there , Can you pull the shaft on the engine is it loose , It should be tight no slop

I dont know if you can get in there to work with the loader arms in the way. You should not have to take it apart like that Just a picture so you know what to look for

Yes it do have slack. In one of my pic, you can see that shaft had enough shaft for me to push it back from the pump without any problem.

Something is wrong on the other end The spline end should only move a little when the tractor flexes, You should not be able to push it off the pump , Can you turn the shaft by hand ? It should not turn

It turn easy with hand

You will have to get to the front of the engine the u joint or lovejoy coupling is broke can you get a good picture of the front between the fan and engine of the shaft ?

I will try tomorrow and get back with you

This is best pic that I could get

Can't see much If you unbolt the pump leave the hoses on can you pull the shaft out?

Looking closely at the first pix (left one) something is missing.
U stated pump shaft moves freely.
The other end (under the rad), does it turn with engine running? if so that end is OK.
Suggesting that the coupling mechanism is gone.

Could this pump installation be a home brew? might the coupling simply been a length of hydraulic hose clamped onto the 2 shafts? (an old DIY coupling trick).

Just a thought.

?? does the pushed back shaft have internal splines that match the pump splines?
If that is the case the shaft might just have slipped off of the pump splined shaft in which case U might just be missing a set screw that locks the splines together (or it loosened).
See if you can't slide forward the engine side shaft and fit it onto the pump spline.

I can not pull shaft out through hole. I have taken radiator off. I am thinking that I might have to take front end completely apart. 1451AF13-5595-4937-A4AB-893AA4234853.jpegD7A8D954-E1B7-4CD1-AA39-066101E41098.jpeg6E882250-8394-4D9F-A1BE-6FC44C49B996.jpeg
