The loader and boxiness looks just like the bx2200. I'm afraid it's already too big for my needs 90% of the time so a B is out of the question. I need room in my shed for other toys, mechanic, and woodworking room too. I found an awesome b21 with backhoe under 1k hours 45 min away from me for $9k but it's huge and no mower or I woulda bought that and sold when I was done. It's just too big and hauling around would be a pain. No ability to mow either unless I spent too much on a deck for it.
If I got a bx23, the bh would sit on a dolly 11 months of the year so I could use 3 point, mow and do loader work without tearing up the yard. I'd also only feel safe hauling to my land on my 2k lb trailer. If I needed bh work away from home I'd have to borrow a trailer.
I really like the looks of quick pins on bx23s but even the $21k price in a few threads down is just too much to swing.
I'm hoping I can get it for $9k or its exceptionally clean and worth more. Otherwise I'll still keep looking.

Had a 2006 BX23 for a dozen years. They are a great little machine that is tough as nails. The BH mounts via a 4 point using cams for the upper mounts (just like the new BX23S). The only issue I encountered was that it kept breaking air filter brackets, likely due to vibration at idle. After 3 replacements, I gave up and just bungee'd it. I also had the 60" deck for it, and it cut very well. The BX23 with the hoe attached will be closer to 3K lbs. So, it may be a bit heavy for a single axle atv trailer.

Called dealer and asked for more details which salesman looked up on his computer. Pretty stupid it's not listed on their website or where I found online. 800 some odd hours. Tires are completely shot and needs new ones. Looks like it ran on road a lot or something. Mismatched tires bothers me if he used 4x4 a lot it was probably hard on differential.
Backhoe is barely used. He said it was traded in on a bx2380 with mower and snow blade that attaches to bucket. He didn't know how long that guy had it. He couldn't tell me any details on price saying he'd need to talk to the guy that sold tractor and took in on trade first and call me back saying he'd have to split the commision with him. Pretty sure the price just went up because this guy was there and other guy wasnt. I asked if the 3pt hitch comes with and he didn't know but that he'd gladly sell me a new one for almost $300.
There's another bx23 about 8 hours from me at a dealer with matching tires and the 3pt hitch, 60" mower, bh, and fel with 1900 hours for $7500. If I can't get the one close to $9k I go for a road trip or keep looking.

Sounds like you need to talk to the original guy, don't worry about mismatched tires on the BX series, all 3 styles are the same sizes so mixing isn't an issue, a lot of people put turfs on the front so it's easier on the yard buy still have the bars on the back for traction.

/ Bx1500 or hold out for a bigger unit? #85
Mixed tires are a nothing burger, if anything the turf would be easier on the tractor than the bar. Tell them there is zero commission, you will offer them break even just to quickly move it off their lot.

Guy I talked to called back and said the best they could do is $11k.
I mentioned the other ones further away much cheaper and that I was hoping to get it for $9k with $10k out the door being already above my budget and wanting matching turf tires that weren't bald. He said even taking $2-300 less than $11k would be too far above my budget. I mentioned I could put less money down and get a brand new one with new everything, better couplers, slightly higher capacity local and not drive 2.5 hours each way to buy his tractor if it wasn't a better deal.
He said I could buy new tires for $100 and it's in like new shape needs nothing. Kinda hard to believe from a guy that didn't even realize the tires were mismatched until I asked him why. I'd like to see even used tires for $100. I said to let me know if he changed his mind and would take less. He said no, they will wait till spring and more money.
Hopefully they don't sell it in a few weeks and I'll call back and hope to get ahold of guy I need to instead of him. Or find a better deal. I'll stop at local dealer next week and see what they can do on a new one too. I had only priced a new bx1870 last time I was at a dealer.

I'm not feeling the love from that dealer Sparky, plus yapping at you about commissions was entirely not appropriate. Sounds like some clowns to me.

I understand that you are trying to save money and I can certainly appreciate that. I urge you to consider the cost of traveling such large distances to get a machine of unknown quality. The IRS will allow 55 cents per mile for vehicle travel. I think a truck and trailer will be lucky to travel for that amount - more like a dollar a mile. So, an 800 mile one-way trip could be 1600 dollars in depreciation, insurance, fuel, etc - without considering the value of your time.

Perhaps a few hundred dollars (or even a couple thousand) more for a good, local machine would actually be less expensive in the long run. Patience will typically be rewarded.

Rural King has brand new sub compact tractors with loaders starting at $10,000. I think you should go to Rural King and bring home a brand new tractor with an 8 year warranty.

Hmm. Never heard of it. I'll have to do some looking into that.
Thanks!!!

Edit- took some searching. They sure don't make the build your own or pricing easy to find. Google came up with everything from beekeeping to tractor parts but no pricing.
I finally found a link on bottom of rural king FAQ page to prices of build your own.

Unfortunately the results of a RK19 with same adds on was actually more expensive than the quote I got on a new kubota bx1870.

An RK24 wit backhoe, mower and Fel was about 1k-2k less than what people posted buying their new bx23s

Still a pretty good chunk of change and closest dealer is out of state 230 miles away with dealer it says it would come from being close to 400 miles away. Not really worth the hassle when I have 3 kubota dealers within 25 miles of home.

Let's not forget that a new set of 4 BX tires on rims from the dealer is about $400 through Whole Goods-the sales dept.

Worth a call. The more I think about backhoe the more I like the idea of just getting my dream tractor in the first place.
I have 2 small jobs I could use it for right away too.
There's a bx1860 at a dealer 4 hours away I talked to when I went to indiana. They already said they'd take 7800 and I bet theyd do 7500 or maybe less. It's still for sale.
Unfortunately I just payed some hefty bills and strapped for cash. The most I can scrounge up is about 10k and that will leave me unable to afford gravel, dirt or concrete for my garage.
Next week I'm going to stop at my grandparents and try to sweet talk my grandpa into going in 50/50 on the backhoe unit or even a new one.

With prices so high on years old used tractors I'd buy a new one and start the clock at 0. Something else to consider Sparky, my dealer was ranting one day about guys buying the BX and B's then trying to use them like bull dozers and pushing the limits and breaking them. So with used you don't really know the history. You could own the used tractor a week then bang something lets go, add an expensive repair with the high used prices that's going to push up towards what a new one would have cost. Just saying.

There are many reasons most of us buy new with the 0% interest for 60 months. Lots of reasons and it isn't because we don't have the money to pay cash. Why would I give my cash and not pay a small monthly payment while my cash is rolling other "stuff" and is still there to make the payments and mostly growing. I've found 60 months is almost like overnight and I'm not under 40. I am a keep some cash for that cash deal that some times pops up and only pay interest on my home loan and some large acreage purchases and collect more interest on some large commercial land sales.

Yup. I would definitely go new, especially in a small tractor. And that new BX23S has some amazing new features. And that 60 months payment deal is great if you don't have the immediate cash.

Isn't the 20% down and 84 months still going, or did that end March 1? That's the deal I took an my tractor, I put $22,000 down on a $33,000 total out the door package, $11,000 financed for free with just over a $100 payment.

I went to the local bar last night and had a few beers with fish sandwich and spent $60.... over half of my tractor payment.... That 84 months thing with zero interest makes it a no brainer!

Hmm. June? I hope so. I was actually looking into all that last night and that ktac insurance.
A few days ago I contacted my insurance agent and asked about a tractor and if it was covered under my normal homeowners from theft. They said it was absolutely not covered on or off property. If I wanted insurance on property it would be $90 per year and the only thing that covers is theft if it's in locked garage. If on trailer or outside, not covered. If I want liability insurance on and off property that was over $500/yr. My agent really rubbed me the wrong way and I'm in process of changing agents or insurance companies or both. He has been on me for years about getting lIability for my recreational land. 99% of the time I'm the only one that goes out there and I wouldn't sue myself if I get hurt so what's the point. He asked if I store anything out there and I said yes, I have a plastic $200 menards shed to keep shovels, a few tools and some extra clothes etc. Nothing of value and if someone feels the need to steal any of it they obviously need it worse than I do. I don't have any bear traps or anything so what could they do? Pinch themselves in the door or with a pliers? Unless whoever trespasses is one of those intentional hot coffee spillers trying to make a buck I don't see the point of liabilit insurance. My agent said because of my improvements and structures on the land liability is required or I will be dropped from my homeowners insurance. He said unless I remove my improvements from the land I am in breach of contract and will be dropped unless I pay backpay to insure it back to the date of improvements which was many years ago. After contacting another agent who contacted the insurance company I was told that was an unethical lie. I am now really questioning my current coverage and if my agent was even looking out for me or just trying to make as much commission as possible. New agent said he'd recommend liability on it but backpay and dropping me for not covering it is just wrong. He said he can't force me to buy insurance I don't want. He thought that might actually be illegal. Pretty frustrating considering my current agent is/was a lifelong friend I graduated with and worked with at our first jobs.
Anyways. Back to the tractor. Ktac insurance covers way more than the homeowners or liability insurance at a better price so that's a no brainer especially if I buy a new tractor. Wife hates the idea of new tractor with a passion :(
If the 0% lasts until June, most of my major yard work should be complete by then. I'm tempted to just rent a backhoe bx asap when the ground thaws at about $200 for a single day and beat the snot out of it. See if it's what I want or need and hopefully pull the trigger or not on a new one after I get some real seat time. At $200 it won't be a huge waste of funds and it would save some wear and tear on my new one if I got the initial learning mistakes out of the way using the rental. Maybe I can also have my grandpa try it out and use that to try and get him to go in on one with me before june.
If a new one comes along for a smoking deal I might bite but I can get a new bx23s for roughly $225 a month plus $25 a month insurance for 7 years with $4k down. I wouldn't be strapped for cash. The thing I most question is what happens if I want to sell or downgrade once my backhoe work is done and I still have a few years left on loan? That's another main reason I like owning things. If I want to sell I can just do it. What hoops will I have to jump through and who is likely to buy it for what it's worth if they can get new and do the same on a loan?

Dump your insurance agent. He has no idea what he's talking about. Sounds like some young wanna-be.
It's likely if your policy is written properly, your tractor is not covered off your properties if you are working at someone else's... especially for money. If on a trailer attached to an insured car, it's covered by your auto insurance. Sitting on a trailer alone at Walmart while you run errands with the car, not covered under auto or homeowners. Btw, a movable temporary $200 shed is not an improvement. I've been running homeowners on my tractors for 16 years. Have the same discussion with my agent every purchase. I'm only thinking of going to Kubota for insurance for the all inclusive coverage.
