Tractor
Kubota B8200, then a Kubota L3130 HST, now a Kubota L3400 HST
Been cold here, but no snow needed removal, so our tractor has sat in the barn, keeping fresh in the cold. I needed to haul a wood splitter and move a heavy cast iron bathtub, so I took it out, first time in maybe 3 months? I was surprised to discover the rears had flat spotted, perhaps because of the cold ( single digits) and time spent just sitting. Got better with some travel. Never had that happen before. Turfs, by the way. Pressure was only 1.5 lbs below ideal.

Did it go away. The tires were just stiff and once they got to flexing they should have warmed up.

I have a Kubota M6800 with ag tires that will flat spot any weather if allowed to sit for a couple of weeks or so.

I have 3 old Fords, and leave them in my barn all winter, while I am away and warm.
Two of them have R-1's, and they have not been a problem.
The other is a 3400 series TLB, with turf tires.
I put it up on blocks each winter, as I am quite certain the turf tires would acquire serious flat spots. The 10' hoe alone, weighs 2200 lbs., with the whole package weighing about 7200+lbs.

varmint,

It may be that the water in the tires froze. That happens to me every year and it makes driving it rough with severe flat spots.

The tires on my MF flat spot slightly overnight, even in warm weather.

R1s on mine. -20 no problem at all. It pounds you the same all the time no matter the temp. I don’t mind it a bit but it sure does rattle you around at speed on blacktop.

No idea brand of tires, one that Kubota put on it. I have water in tires but anti freeze to keep from freezing. Ag tires. 2 wheel drive tractor. Once tractor runs on road at speed it levels out.

If they are Nylon cord, that's why polyester became popular....Nylon flat spots, poly doesn't for reasonable length sitting sessions. In the early days they used cotton fabric for cord which rotted and was a safety hazard.....hence Nylon became popular.

I've never had a flat spot problem. I've got Firestones on my Kubota M6040. The tractor with grapple, rear blade and Rimguard in the rear tires - weighs 10,100# Many times during any 12 month period - it will sit for two months without moving.

However - it sits on soft dirt in a single stall carport. I can see flat spotting if your tractor sits on concrete or asphalt or such.

The old nylon belted tires used to get flat spots regardless of temperature.

My Kubota B26 got flat spots so bad that it loped along the road. I thought I had loose lug bolts or something. It has only happened one time in the summer. It may happen again as it has been setting for 3 months and likely will set for a couple more till spring gets here.

I store several cars seasonally.
I hate the hassle of jacking them up to avoid flat spots.
Instead; I air the tires up to 50 psi.
If there are any flat spots, they are very small.
I put a note in the car, to remind me that before driving I must reduce tire pressure.

When I was a younger man, Firestone came out with Firestone 500 tires, the had a gold stripe along with the white wall. They where the "cats meow" of the day. The only thing wrong with them was that they where made with nylon and as stated by many here, they would develop flat spots and for a few miles till they heated up, they car would thump thump down the road, but boy they looked sharp. So did Nylon cord without the belt; before belted bias became popular. The flat spotting is why the industry looked for a replacement and settled on polyester which was made to be strong, did not stretch (like Nylon) nor rot (like Cotton).
