Honda just introduced an EU2200i

All-new Honda EU22i Super Quiet Series Generator Delivers Customers More Power for Work, Home or Play, With the Same Legendary Honda Quality and Reliability - Honda.com

Not on the website yet. Has a fuel off switch! Can be paralleled with EU2000. Same price as EU2000, available Spring.
10% more power. Same noise level, same price. Seems it is the replacement for the well loved 2000. I like how they made it compatible with the 2000 to buddy. Doesn't help me, I have the 3000 but still a  from what I see.

I think it's good that Honda continues to explore for improvements on existing products. While the 2000i is an awesome generator, (I have two.), the downside of that model is that there's no 240v service. Parallel doesn't really give me all that much advantage whereas the 3000 model does.

Getting 10% more power for the same price is definitely good, but were I to buy all over I'd go for at least one 3000 and probably another little 22i. You just can't beat the economical side of the 2000 not to mention the portability and quietness. Awesome little machines!

My car doors were frozen shut in the driveway yesterday morning, instead of running an extension cord for the hair dryer I used the 2000i., its that easy to lug around. It is stored in an unheated garage, started in one effortless pull and 10 minutes later I could access the car. Probably used a whole penny worth of gas .

LOL, I actually have 2 gen sets.(well actually 3 I realize as I type)
My 5KW that is tied into the hydro panel and used more often than I'd like and a $25.00 yard sale unit that I am still contemplating.
Then I have an 'el cheapo' 2 stroke that was new to the point that the warranty papers came with it that I got at a yard sale for $40,00. ( who could resist), (owner said it was too noisy) but it works great. (at least it did when I tried it)
I also had a McCulloch (cost me all of $20.00) that I sold to a friend to keep his chicken coop warm 'just in case'.
Yeah, I'm in the 'boonies' or could you guess.

OK, bring on power outages, I'm ready!

I don't need to run everything, my current generator is large enough for what I need to run. My concern is will my old generator blow a circuit board on my furnace or fridge?
In MN I am more concerned about heat than cooling. I plan on putting in a wood stove, but that will come with a major remodel that is not going to happen for a couple of years yet.

Breathe easy. The perfect sine wave with no THD is mostly myth. All power supplies in modern electronics are tanking supplies. They rectify the AC into DC to charge a capacitor, then tap the capacitor to provide the necessary voltages. They run just fine off of a square wave. Take a look at the wave output of an APC uninterruptible power supply sometime. It's a modified square wave, but runs computers, satellite dishes and TVs just fine. Just don't try to plug an old AM radio into it, because all you will hear is static. Most surge protectors have a built in RF choke to reduce the amount of radio frequencies, so plug one in if you need to. The only problem I ever had with an APC unit was the digital clock on a satellite receiver going wonky and screwing up the DVR timing, but as soon as power returned it was fine.

I would like a listeroid also!!

There are plenty of YouTube videos on Lister diesel generators. You can buy the engines from India, but they are not finished, and require a teardown and cleanup before going into service. If you want a low hp diesel that will run forever on just about any grade of fuel, the Lister-Petter is your choice, though.

Thanks for the reply. I would sure hate to fry my fridge, TV or furnace etc. I still may purchase a small invertor generator to power up the furnace in the winter, will be much quieter than the one I currently have and I won't have to worry about having so much fuel on hand to keep it running. My old generac sucks about a gallon of gas an hour.

I was thinking about selling the old one but will keep it around for extended outages so I will be able to fire up the well so we can have water.

lets be careful here, there are several items that do not or don't run well on MSW, those being microwaves heating blankets, motion sensors for lights, some computer controlled furnaces and ironically cheap ups's. no switching power supplies don't have a problem, but not everything has them.

My charger for cordless Makita simply will not run on my then $800 Inverter...

In the Hospital, the manufacturer specs APC Sinewave models for UPS and they cost a lot more...

Commercial pressure, there are lots of portable inverters on the market now, and many of the new ones were 2200, 2400 etc.

They introduced a 2800 earlier and upgraded the 6500 inverter to 7000 with fuel injection, so they’re upgrading and expanding the lineup.

We have three Honda’s and had an EU3000i (stolen) but chose the new B&S Q6500 for portable backup in Boston because it was a great value. While it’s manual start, the Honda weighs 261 lbs dry and the Yamaha 200 lbs to 128 for the B&S.

Sorry to hear about your EU3000. I depise people that steal. I'm a mild mannered man but God knows what I will do if I find someone on my property stealing.

There’s nothing worse than a thief. Drug dealers are higher up the chain IMO.

Because they are stealing in some way as well in most cases.

Probably not directly. They have tons of money. Why steal? The only thing they did illegal was not pay taxes. Their customers definitely steal though. Crooked lawyers are probably worse than a regular thief.

If I reply I will move this thread well beyond generators... not paying legit taxes is stealing... but unjustified taxing is also stealing in my mind.

So where do you draw the line. And you’ll still go to jail if you get caught. There’s plenty of not legit taxes. Used vehicle sales tax is definitely on that list. Any tax used to fund “entitlement” programs is also on the list.
