Harbor Freight Tools that don't suck

I went to HF just yesterday to get some blast media, walnut shells..[22.00] & had my 20% off coupon..& my freebie coupon..
I ended up walking out w/ 2 CARTS FULL of "stuff".. NOT 1, but 2 CARTS..
1st cart came to 196.00 & #2 came to 198.00 !!!!!
Those $4.00 tools will add-up QUICK.. Lol
I did buy a 5" vise & a Jump box.. those were both 50.00 items.
I went to charge the jump box & the instructions are screwy.. it says in big bold type> the Green lite indicates a FULL charge.. THEN it says, JBox MUST BE FULLY CHARGED BEFORE USE.. INITIAL CHARGE TIME> 30hrs.. DO NOT OVERCHARGE..
I plugged it in & it went from red> yellow> green in minutes.. just to be safe I left it on for the 30hrs.
I bought 2, 5 gal. gas cans, for 20.00 each just because they had the "handle" on the back side.. My current one doesn't have a 2nd handle..& is a Royal PITA to pour fuel.. The "safety spouts" were easily dismantled & I'm looking forward to using them.. When was the last time you could say THAT about a gas can?? Lol
& when I left the cashier threw in another coupon for Nov. 2&3rd?? 20%off & new freebies.. multi meter, magnetic tray & something else??
The current freebies were> tarp, flash lite & screwdriver..

Have you guys seen the utube video about putting a tire stem as a vent ??

That's what I have in several of mine and they work great. The only thing I would do different would be to use the short stubby stems rather than the standard length. The short stems would be less likely to get caught on something.

So I have a 3 yard dumpster for removal of horse manure. Problem is in the cold the manure freezes to the bottom of the container. Enter free tarp. Now what do I do with all the cheap razor knives I buy for $1 to get the tarp free?

Our Menard's sells OTC a replacment ordinary flex spout called a 'water can' spout.
I do like the 'No-Spill' spouts now that I installed the breather vents. Fills so much faster and it doesn't spill!

Excellent question. I go to HF weekly and if nothing else make sure I bring home a freebie. Generally this is accomplished with purchase of a 59 cent paint brush or a roll of electrical tape. Any other good suggestions of cheap but useful items?

Here is an easy mod to your plastic gas cans to increase the flow. Works especially well on the 'No Spill' gas cans that you have to use your thumb to hold the button down on the spout when pouring.

I'm gettin' too old to lift & hold 5 gal cans so I found this.
6 ft. Siphon Pump-AT4.SP1.2A - The Home Depot

Works GREAT!
Fuel tractors, mowers, plow truck... just shake it & watch it fill whatever.

Also great for the laptop and iPad! Keep a few around for detailing the inside of the truck.

Just be careful as some of the rubber compounds used to make valve stems will dissolve due to the ethanol over time. They are no longer rubber as it dry rots. Now they are made from synthetic compounds.

I didn't mean to diminish your post DE.. it was just another idea that folks might have laying around.. I know I have acouple of tire stems in the toolbox.. & thank you for the link..
One thing about the tire stems is> keeping up w/ the CAP!!! How many folks can say they have caps on ALL THEIR TIRES?? Lol
& the little yellow hinge breaks on the vent caps.. I know I have several 2 gal containers w/ the yellow vents that are missing the cap, due to the hinge breaking..
The spout on the new jug has a "small" red cap & I drilled a hole in IT & the nub on the container.. tied fishing line thru it & attached it to the nub where the spout ratchet USED TO BE..
A razor knife made short work of the plastic push ratchet band..

DE, if you couple those vents with these high flow spouts you can dump 5 gallons in about 30-40 seconds.
