trailer stake pocket d ring tie down

I am looking for the formed stake pocket d ring mount that has the pin under the stake pocket, without the d ring. I need a flat plate to build custom mounts for a side tool box and a cradle for boring rods. I could buy the mount and cut the ring off but had rather start with a fresh flat plate. I have looked on line but have not found any available.

I've seen the drop in stake pocket D rings. Many trailer mfgs. sell them. But I too have never seen them the way you describe. I made my own out of 1/4" thick square tubing and flat plate then welded on the D-rings. You may have to do the same without the D-rings

I agree, for the cost of pre-made ones, that you'd still need to chop up, make your own. 1.5x3" box tube is avalible, and fits stake pockets nicely.

Most flat beds have the pre-mounted strap jacks. They rarely use chains.

However I have them on my PJ and it sure is easier to pull the chain through. Also going through the side rail chips the paint bad. Also the d-ring is nice and smooth, unlike the sharp edges on the side rail. Once you have a couple of sets you will know why folks have them. I bought mine with the trailer for $20 a set.

I got my chains and ratchet binders from them (best price hands down). Excellent service and the actually answer emails and their phone. They also sell American made products. I do not have any of these yet, but will get some for my equipment trailer this coming Spring.
If I had D-Rings absolutely everywhere, I would not need these.
Seems like I always want a chain or strap, where there is no D-Ring.
Putting a strap through a stake pocket, or around a rub rail, is a quick way to chafe a strap.
Hooking a strap to a D-Ring is foolproof.
D-Rings in stake pockets just means that you have more D-Rings.
In the grand scheme of D-Rings,.....More, is better!

BTW: A company called MyTee Products sells these stake pocket D-Rings (16,200#,/5400# working load) for $10.99 each, plus shipping. MyTee also sells a package of 4 on E-Bay for $53.99, with free shipping. Others may sell heavier duty ones, but my chains, and straps are all 5400#.

Nah. I don’t think so at least. I like my chain spools for my chains and the rub rail works fine for straps.

I use chains on my my semi flatbed ten times for every time I use a strap.

Nothing wrong with d rings but there are not needed if you have stake pockets, chain spools, rub rail.

I would just find the size of tube you need to fit, cut to length, weld a plate on top, drill a hole for a pin. You could probably make a dozen for what a couple premade ones would cost

Thanks fried1765, I received the Mytee stake pocket D rings from Ebay, that you suggested. I appreciate everyones input, but for me it was better to bite the bullet and razor disc the d rings cuffs off the mounts and make shop wall decorations out of them until my next brain storm. I am mounting an 8 foot weatherguard super low side box on one side of my 20' PJ and making a cradle for 5' long McLaughlin boring augers on the opposite side. I am planning to mount a vise on one of the anchors so it can be removed and locked up when not in use. I wanted to be able to remove toolbox and cradle in the event I need the trailer to move a truck, tractor or whatever!!!!

I agree. I would find a rub rail far more useful than d-rings in stake pockets. While a 10K lb BS/3300 lb WS strap J hook won't go through a stake pocket, it will fit through a rub rail attached to outside of the pockets. I need to add one to my tractor trailer.

My Diamond C tilt trailer had stake pockets of different sizes. I just bought six 5/8" D-rings and welded three on each side.

I find that using tie down straps with rub rails, may allow the fabric strap to rub on the top edge of the rub rail.
I like the idea of rub rails, but not the idea of straps rubbing on rub rails.
Straps hooked to "D" rings eliminate any risk of strap damage.

I have a Big Tex 10-ET. I found some of the PJ Stake Pocket D Rings. These work great.
