Good Morning!!!! 43F @ 5:30AM. Sunshine and a few clouds. High near 55F. Winds light and variable.
The small front dropped through overnight but didn't leave any rain behind, and the next ten days are dry as well. Good travel days all.
Hope those of you that are iced in have the luxury of staying in until it melts; nothing quite like doing donuts on the way to the store to get your heart started.
Drew, my neighbor has a tendency to throw his fence wire onto my side, where they wrap around whatever mower blades I happen to be using. Sometimes that means going at it with a pair of side cutters and Vice Grips, observing proper safety precautions with blocking and no keys in the ignition. And renewed wonder at the carelessness of my fellow man.
We're still pulling for you and your wife, Rip, hoping she comes through the worst of it real soon.
The battery on the touring bike made it through two load tests just fine yesterday, so I put on the fancy any-battery-you-got Optimate charger and it quickly came back to full charge. Usually if a battery is bad, it'll go into the de-sulfate mode, and it'll take overnight before it shows a full charge. But often it'll give up, signaling it's time for a trip to the battery store.
Too cold to give the bike a bath, so settled for a rub down with Lemon Pledge and a soft towel. I like to use Plexus instead, but the cost has gone through the roof and I now try to save that for just the plastic windscreens.
Email from the transmission builder recommends lots of parts, which I'd probably go for if I was planning to ride the old bike on a regular basis. But it'll be more of a nice Sunday morning putt putt bike, so I think I'll pass on a large number of the recommendations.
Hope everyone enjoys their long Christmas weekend...
