No, the saw takes a bigger blade.
No markings tell me what size it is but I'd guess (without measuring an old blade) that it is a 9". (They made 8, 9 & 10 inch for a short time.)
Also a Sears-Craftsman, inherited from ex F-I-L. Late 50's early 60's vintage.
The 7 1/4 just barley gets down to the table but did cross cut the pipe.

If I was trying to rip sheet stock, I would put a shim under it, something like a piece of paneling or plywood.

P.S. Wear protection, eye, face, & anything else the CHIPS can get at. They are sharp & hot.

Metal Saw - YouTube

Hi LD,

Thanks, I was wondering if that was how you were doing it- I'll have to get one of those blades.

Thanks also for the reminder about safe practices- I'm almost always scrupulous about those things- I get a fair amount of practice pulling metal fragments out of corneas at work, AND suturing the digits that got too close to the spinning metal, so a lot of the safety stuff comes naturally any more.

I thought about going along with the recall for the Craftsman saw, but after looking into it, I found out that they don't just want the motor, they require return of the whole carriage it uses to attach to the arm as well [which is good sense on their part as it completely disables the saw], and that would be a shame as I'm happy with the whole thing otherwise- and I'm extremely cautious with any chance of blade contact no matter how I use it.

Thanks again,
PA

Just bought this 2-ton floor jack. Haven't used it yet. Didn't purchase the extended warranty. Still have 30-days to decide. They did mention with the extended warranty I could upgrade to a larger model and only pay the difference. Thought that was pretty cool.

That looks exactly like the 1 1/2 ton aluminum jack I have and it has become my go-to jack. I even sold the steel ones. One pump and it's up, it's lightweight and rolls easy. Easy to carry around if I can't roll it and easy to position under vehicle. No more steel jacks for me.

It's my understanding that the trade-off with the one- or two-pump "racing" jacks is that they require a lot more force per stroke to operate. Have you not found that to be an issue? Although 20 years ago, I don't think I'd have cared!

Just purchased the 301pc Mechanics Tool Set on sale for $155.

I'd read they were manufactured in Taiwan, so I wanted to check it out. Mine says "Made in China" -- and the fit / finish looks like it.

I'll probably still keep it though.

I have a couple similar sets -- 2 different Craftsman versions (150pc, plus another similar sized), 2x Kirkland / Costco 159pc (very nice finish), and a Dewalt 181pc black chrome.

The problem with the smaller sets is that I always seem to need that 1 tool / bit / socket / wrench that isn't included.

I bought one of their cement mixers with a 40% off coupon. It's not a Kobalt, but it works fine for one 60# bag at a time. Two overwhelms the motor. Still better than a wheelbarrow

We have the 3 1/2 cubic foot version. I think it was $189 on sale.

It will do 2x 60lb bags, but I prefer to do them one at a time. I think that's around .45 cubic foot each. I'm happy with it.

Runs off a little 1600w generator.

I dump the mixed concrete directly into the BX2370 bucket, then drive it to the destination and dump / shovel it out.

I bought that one about 18 months ago, for a project. Decided to upgrade it a bit. The little tires are a joke. I had a couple of bigger tires from a fertilizer spreader I “recycled”.

Made the mixer much easier to move around.

Can anyone comment on this 1 1/2 ton aluminum jack? It's $60 tomorrow and that's as cheap as I've seen it.

1.5 Ton Aluminum Racing Floor Jack with Rapid Pump(R)

I personally don't like the "rapid pump" floor jacks. I have never done a NASCAR pit stop so I have never needed to jack a car up in less than 3 pumps. The extra force needed to raise it that quickly isn't usually a problem but when you are trying to position something and are using one hand to steady/ guide it into place and the other to pump the jack up that extra force is annoying. But trying to maneuver a steel floor jack that weighs more than twice the aluminum jack also is annoying. For $60, I probably would buy one too if I didn't upgrade to a 2 post lift.
