I’m glad to share the 24 hour process with you .... just to speed things up.

In all seriousness (yeah right) we really like the Alton Brown baking method as well. 500 degrees for 30 minutes then 350 degrees until measured temperature is met on internal probe.

Mmmmm Mmmm Goood!

I learned a similar method for prime rib. I’ll have to look it up but, put PR in oven at 500 degrees with inserted temp probe. Turn off oven after about 30 minutes, leaving oven door closed until internal PR temp gets to doneness you prefer. If anyone is interested I’ll look it up and share?

Loaded my 50 HP Tractor on my gooseneck trailer on Monday and broke thru a deck board doing so. The cross bracing is on 16” centers so, no issue.

Decided today to remove the entire deck and replace same with new grade 1 PT 2 x 8’s. This trailer is about 11 years old so, not unexpected that the original deck boards were failing. Doubt if they were even grade 2.

The original deck boards were secured to cross bracing with 2 1/2”screws with non-coated Torx head screws. They are kind you must pre-drill hole for each screw.

I’m looking for ideas on coated #12 x 2 1/2” self tapping screws, Torx Head, similar to the TEKS Coated screws.

Consider pre drilling and using stainless carriage bolts with poly lock nuts on the bottom.

Thanks Kyle. Pre-drilling and crawling around under trailer, is the step I’d like to avoid. McCoys has some ceramic coated self drilling trailer deck screws but ...they are Phillips head screws. I consider them fair to install, terrible to remove in 10 years. I know there has to be similar coated screws with Torx heads?

The original screws, on this trailer were rusted but, a few (maybe 1/2) could be removed with impact driver and Torx bit. Some just broke off. On others the head was badly rusted and bit just spun.
Will be grinding off the screws I couldn’t remove or broke, manana.

Good evening all. 56F this morning, overcast, calm wind. Wind stayed light today, overcast thinned a bit today, and high temp made it to 69F. This morning did some chainsaw work, had 3 small trees (3-6 in dia) to take down and haul off. Subdivision is have a brush haul off weekend, so loaded up the trees, and some branches we trimmed 2 weeks ago and there were guys to unload me when I got there . Decided to ride today in light as opposed to tomorrow and 20+ mph winds. Sat. wind forecast are as bad, but get out of 1 day day of bad wind.
