Got oil changed in 3 of the 4 engines I had on list.

I'm going to be busy next week on this too. I just went to my "engines" list, which I keep as a running competition with a very close friend
who also loves motors and machinery and so far we are neck and neck at 25 "small" engines each, including tractors. I think I may be up one on him, the new little
Massey may have him eating my row dust... This is why I have to use a labeler for maintenance, each motor has a label with what was done when. On the little engines that get ten hours or less each year, I go two years on the oil change. I'm using fully synthetic anyway. Not like it wears out.

I have 15 engines to care for. 4 have not been used in years. Properly drained of gas and fresh oil. 3 are 2 stroke. No oil changes. Plugs maybe. But drained of gas if not used yearly. 3 get oil change every 2 years. Because they do not get used enough to need changes yearly. Sold the big oil user last spring. 15 quarts.
Saw you next post. Maybe you should make a trip out west. Lots of eligible single ladies in the snowbird parks. You could stop by Don's place. Maybe he has a Cousin that needs a mate.

47 and falling today at home very windy later before temperatures moderate for next week

Got old washer dryer combo out of its hole yesterday. Moved the behemoth to the hall sort of out of the way. Started painting the closet that held it never painted before chose the color water approximate I think. Got corners trimmed trimmed by baseboard and ceiling roll this morning two coats I'm sure then baseboard. I have to leave today but wife stays for delivery tomorrow of new washer/dryer combo. The old GE was over 30 years old hopefully the speed queen lasts as long

The low this morning was 27*, yesterday's high was 68*. Today's going to be in the low 60's, partly cloudy with some wind.

Didn't get all the firewood cut yesterday. We got sidetracked by another neighbor. Her son was visiting and had about a dozen of his friends with him. They came out from New York City, for the weekend. Most of then had never been out west. They wanted to ride horses and 4 wheelers. They also wanted to shot some guns. So we helped them with doing that. They all got to try and shot some clay pigeons. I think a good time was had by all. I was impressed with how safe they all were handling the guns. The women did better then the men.

We are going to try and get the rest of the wood cut today.

A lot of rain so far, cool and damp, a lot more rain predicted, but not sure we will get it unless that system over Eastern NC stays inland.

Each day has been a little cooler than the one before, and it looks like the temps will take another, bigger drop tomorrow and into the rest of the week. First Pacific storm of the new rain year is supposed to arrive for the weekend, perhaps bringing enough moisture to finish putting out all the fires. One can only hope.

Sounds like a little Yankee ingenuity worked out for your fence protector, Eric. What plans do you have next for those timbers?

Good luck with the new washer/dryer, Buppies! Speed Queen seems to be the brand to get these days.

Before the rain hits I need to get up on the roof and clean out the stove pipe on the wood stove, and get the bead blaster emptied and tarped. Wouldn't hurt to put the tractor on a charger for a day, either. And the gravel on the driveway needs scraped and leveled after the brief shower we had a week or so again. But today I'll be polishing that other rim, having finished only one yesterday. Sore hands had me in no hurry to do them both, so I spent some time learning how they had been laced and what options are available for replacing the spokes. With nice clean hubs and sparkly rims, the old spokes look even worse, so I'll make some calls Monday to get new ones ordered.

Also experimented with some Nice'n'Easy aluminum window cleaner on an engine casting, and found that a stainless steel wire brush and some gentle scrubbing nicely restored the factory finish. Not quite sure yet how to use the stuff on the engine itself, though, as the acids it contains need to be flushed thoroughly or they'll rust and corrode everything they touch. May end up pulling the engine, easy enough because at this point it's held in by only two studs at the bottom.

40F, overcast, and wet @ 12:30.

Got the 5 gallons of hydraulic fluid and 2 gallons of bar and chain oil picked up from TSC last night. Also got a bag of sunflower seeds and 4 suet cakes.

Grabbed 4 gallons of K1 @ the Speedway on the way home. Pricey ($3.40 a gallon plus tax) compared to regular diesel ... but nowhere near as expensive as it is at TSC ($8 per gallon ... )

Still have to unload everything out of the car ...
