The day the music died.

My dad's generation would say that about the 60's. My dad's quip about the early 70's was that only two of the ten commandments mattered any more (didn't say which ones). The 40's were shocking to some people, but the 20's were when people really let loose. And so it goes.

The children now love luxury. They have bad manners, contempt for authority; they show disrespect for elders and love chatter in place of exercise.

It's basic evolution...technological advancements play a major role...it doesn't change the fact that many think a lot of the music from the 80's was lacking...

A lot of the music from every era was "lacking." Most popular music from any time is probably not the best music of that time; it's just the most popular. I doubt music historians will view the music of Poison as being better than, say, Dream Theater, but there's little question as to who has been more popular at the time. In their time, the music of Antonio Salieri was more popular than most of his contemporaries, including W.A. Mozart. Today, we see it very different.

This guy is hardly the clearing house authority but an example of my point...

Not exactly on topic but Roger Moore passed today. Always loved the James Bond music and movie intros. He was 89!

The Allman Brothers were very popular in my area playing at a place called The Warehouse in N.O. It had been an actual warehouse in the past . They played there so often it was like they were the house band . Admission was $ 5.00 .

Sad but from what I have been reading in the news about his health issues lately, not unexpected. I saw them twice at the Spectrum in Philly. What a show!

Well, fellow Peach Heads, we have lost our shining star. I hope Greg finds the peace he deserves. Rock on, Dicky Betts....

Jammin with "Jelly Jelly right now! RIP Greg

Thanks for the reminder. I just had Alexa play it for me. Wonder if there's a longer version. The song fades out just as they're getting warmed up.
