Yes, I meant nut. The finger tight plus a 1/16th turn ... where did you reference this? Seems like loc-tight might be in order. Just searched my repair manual and don't find it. I assume the dealers don't use the same manuals.

1/6th Turn - Not 1/16th. Loctite if you really want.

Remember this post?

thanks for the help from the land down under

you are correct

i could take it so i walked out to shop disconnected the harness at solenoid

15 amp fuse in fired up ole blue

turned pto switch on pop

i heard fuse go

With no solenoid coil connected the fuse did blow... :irked:

So I'm not sure they have fixed the whole problem. But if you're able to go mowing, get out there!

Thanks for the follow-up anyway.

I will talk to service manager tomorrow. I bet the May of found something else too. No telling. I did mark the coil to see if they actually changed it

Makes me want to buy a spare

Wise move with the mark on a part. When I was a kid, I was in horror at a man I worked for that said he replaced parts on cars when he did no such thing but charged them full price. I quit.

Buying a spare is a way to guarantee you will never have that problem again, will die with that unused new coil and you will never even hear of anyone having a bad coil until a week after you finally throw it out from not using it for 30 years. It's a subset of Murphy's Law. You can look it up.
