Was greasing my FEL on my new BX25D when the zerk popped off with a light tug. Turned out the hole wasn't fully tapped. I used a tap to thread it all the way through and then screwed the zerk all the way on. No biggie but surprised that I would find this kind of workmanship on a Kubota. Anybody else have this problem?

Mate, I'm not surprised at all and I wouldn't put the blame/concern On Kubota.

I reckon that it's either 'just one of those things'... like needing to check the torque on your wheel lugs. There've been reports here on TBN of wheels falling off of new tractors (multiple colours, not just one brand) and other such occurrences. The bloke who attached the FEL simply missed tightening a grease nipple or it worked its way loose due to transport prior to delivery.

If you find more than that one hole not fully tapped, then I'd have cause for concern. It may be where the FEL was built/assembled that is the problem. For example: my 4105 was built in the USA but my 300CX FEL was built in Mexico. Both were shipped to, eventually, Tasmania where they were joined together at my dealership prior to delivery to me. That's a lot of rattling around. :)

I never had a zerk fall off or be pulled off. I had one that absolutely refused to accept grease under any condition. So I replaced it and found that the original was defective. Somebody missed it when they did the original greasing of the tractor or it got buggered in shipment, etc, etc.

I had a zerk fall out of my Kubota snow blower auger shaft after first storm last year. Dealer used nutdriver and hammer to drive new zerk in. Same zerk fell out in the last couple storms this year. Need to go back and see if they have a more permanent solution this time.

Had this happen a few times on my BX25. Once on the loader arms, and then on backhoe. I now take a small socket with me when I grease and check them for tightness. I think the issue comes from fighting to get the grease coupler off. I'm left handed and seem to twist off to the right when fighting my lincoln grease gun on the zerks.
